UAE4All2 Amiga Emulator for Switch (and Vita)

I succeeded in porting the Amiga emulator UAE4All2 to the Switch. The port is based on my previous work on the Vita port.

Download is here, I will keep parity between both Vita and Switch releases as much as possible:
https://github.com/rsn8887/uae4all2/releases/latest

There are some problems still on Switch, e.g. savestates not working, Sleep mode causing problems, etc. But I think it already runs quite nicely.

Thanks a lot! Using the Vita Version to watch some Amiga Demos while travelling :-)

I've been playing Speedball 2 on the Switch with uae4all 2. The joycon sticks are actually quite nice to use (no cramp, or less cramp than the Vita) and I like how you can scale up the screen to make it fill the Switch screen. Also been using the 8x floppy speed option to cut down loading times. Working very nicely and enjoying some old classics again.

I was aware of UAE4All2 but hadn't realised there was UAE4ARM. They are both written by same author but is there a significant compatibility / speed difference?

BTW rsn8887 - using your UAE4All2 on PS Vita. It was quite amusing to see how FAST it was that it felt the Amiga was child's play for this machine!

Does either the Vita's or the Switch's display support 50Hz refresh rate?

Speed is good, when you work out, that setting fatest speed actually makes it slower. Setting it to 14MHz, gives you full speed. It works well and the added bonus is, that it emulates CD32 with CD audio.

I'm also interested to know this.

Separately, I hooked my Switch up to my TV bit couldn't change the TV to 50 hz - I suspect because the Switch runs at 60hz.

So far the Pandora was the only handheld device I know of that has a 50Hz-capable display. But its 800x480-resolution is not ideal for Amiga games which are mostly either 200 (doubled 400) or 256 (doubled 512) lines high.

The Chuwi HI8 Win10/Android tablet has a 50hz firmware. I think the latest firmware is 50hz, while the earlier one is 60hz. Currently, my Android partition boots at 50hz while my Win10 partition works at 60hz.

Unfortunately this Chuwi HI8 tablet has a pretty weak battery.

Now that Black Friday is close: Are there any other Android tablets or cheap handheld consoles that have a 50Hz-capable display?

The JXD S7300 Android handheld had an early 50hz firmware, which was supposed to be a "bug". For the JXD S7800, someone made a 50hz hack (at my request!) but that was actually 48hz, not a perfect solution.

Thanks for the info! 48Hz really isn't ideal (UAE4All2/UAE4ARM don't support 48fps - though it shouldn't be hard to implement the option). Where did you ask for this hack?

Oh, in this thread you said "the Amiga emulators will sync to the device's refresh rate if it's close to 50hz" so the emu is synched to 48Hz? That's actually quite good. The difference between 48fps and 50fps is almost unnoticable.
Is Amiga emulation really perfectly smooth on the S7800?

The 800p resolution is also very well suited for Amiga emulation (320x200 * 4 = 1280x800 and 320x256 * 3 = 960x768).

Unless there's a taskbar obstructing the bottom which can't be hidden - is that the case here?

I no longer have an S7800, but yes, UAE4All2 could synch to 48hz. I had issues with the resolution though. It seems I couldn't get UAE4All2 to do an integer-zoomed screen, which still resulted in some kind of unnatural scrolling (pixel wobble?). On the Chuwi Hi8, which has a resolution of 1920x1200, I am able to get a proper integer-zoom with UAE4All2/UAE4All, but I don't remember the exact settings right now.
