never been a fan, have access to it as part of origin access though so might give it another try when I have less work to do at "work" so can spend all this working from home time playing games like I should be doing

I finished C&C on the Playstation, using a pad and no saves, it was awesome!
Also, Red Alert was one of the first games I got when I finally got a PC, so yeah, kinda biased here, much nostalgic.

That is strange, I also finished C&C on PSX back in day (both campaigns), then only first campaign on PC. I did similar with WarCraft 2, where I completed both campaigns on PSX, but only human campaign on PC?!

I did play couple of missions of C&C couple of years ago by using OpenRA.

Was thinking to get remastered version from HB. After not playing much of AoE 1 & 2 DE, not sure I would play this... it brings memories in first 15-30 minutes and by end of first hour, I remember how I hate repetition and grinding...

The fun is still there, what a great game!

https://i.imgur.com/q9oPmhs.png

All original 320x200 @10 fps movies were upscaled using AI so it looks strange in some parts, especially some faces look hilarious!

Game's got a huge bug though: when saving you can't click on your last save, you've got to type in a name, what is this? Amiga? XD

Only 8 hours in due to, well, life, but I'm speechless how much care this remastered version got from the original authors', both old Westwood coders (now independent as Petroglyph, so the EA fuckers can't close them down! ) and the music master - Frank Klepacki... just watch this:

I love when they do FMV remasters, you get all the goodies of modern compression.. but still the cheesy C-list actors against a green screen retro

Wing commander IVs GOG release when they got the DVD video files was also amzing.. and now some guy is doing neuro net reconstruction with stunning results!

There's also now a special menu option for watching all the cheesy takes and retakes and retakes of takes of all the cutsenes!

I did not care as a kid about the acting, loved what was happening, but damn, some of these look worse than my local soap opera series!
Except for Joe Kucan, this guy's so freaking natural at playing a lovable nice guy/bad guy character that would invite you to a dinner and than cut your throat.

Done with GDI campaign, almost done with NOD campaign.... Almost time to play more Cover Ops.

Strange is that I have 2-3 sets of red alert, but never played it.

Has anyone checked if hell has frozen over though? EA is responsible for a plain & simple package without additional cash grabs added to it, making sure it was done by the right people... and it has an honest price. What is happening.

I'm kind of curious what the old Westwood will do next. Surely they don't do a one-and-done remaster of an old property and then call it quits, something new needs to be made first.

Hope they remaster Tiberian Sun, it had some problems with performance on moderner computers, higher resolution would be nice too, and, of course, the wonderful Tiberium Wars, that 30fps lock is a joke, gimme my 144fps!

I'd wish for something to be done with a Dune property, but that license is probably long expired and too expensive to pickup again

Interestingly I saw that and one more video regarding dune license and issue they had with both studios working on Dune license.

As for C&C Remastered, works great, easy to switch between video modes (space bar) and game is just as good as it was. Only difference I see is that you can now use keyboard for shortcuts for production. Unlocking of those videos, takes... some videos, even remastered look as bad as they did back then.

And bad. Oh god, the pathfind (or lack of it), the Commando taking instant damage after blowing up a structure, looking for that final enemy unit to kill... loving it!

The videos aren't remastered in any way, they lost the "masters" and had to use an AI upscaler similar to this one: https://topazlabs.com/video-enhance-ai/ (free demo available, try it for yourself)

Well of course you can already play the original Dune 2 as a remastered addition by using one of various ports like this one..

I tried, but they messed too much with the AI. Its been a while though, I have to check out Dune Dynasty which claims to have improved AI over OpenDune.
