Am I alone in liking Turrican I more than II?

First off, of course T2 is an awesome game, no debate. But, for some reason I find myself going back more to T1.

I'm new to the Amiga scene admittedly so I don't know if that plays a factor but on lemon amiga and HoL there's usually a concensus that T2 was the 'better game'.

Am I odd?

Well... yes
Then again, it's of course up to you which game you prefer Both games are great (even if Graham and Horace will heartly disagree ), but I prefer 2 not only for the graphics and music, but also I find that the levels are better designed and it's just more 'fun' to play. That said, 2 is just a tad better than 1 and you don't have to feel ashamed that you like Turrican 1 more

Both are awesome but T2 is better... better music, cooler level design, more interesting enemies.. more fun to play.

However, I don't like how you have unlimited 'turn into spiky wheel' things, makes it too easy.

For me title music and title screen is better in Turrican 1 than 2. But "alien hive" level in Turrican 1 is boring.

well I am the odd person who likes Turrican 3 more than 2, but 2 and 3 are really different games in terms of design & gameplay so it's a matter of taste. 1 and 2 though are very similar games and 2 is just a much more improved and polished version of 1, so liking 1 more than 2 is really odd. I will send angry video game nerd to your place for checkups.

you're welcome

You are not odd, you are weird

I prefer Turrican 2, better music, animations (no doubt about it), its better in all aspects imo.

I am sure each one of us here is "odd" in some way, I dont like Superfrog, Valhalla games, Lotus 3 and prefer first Monkey Island to MI2

didn't like Turrican 1 so much actually. The levels are too boring for my taste and the music is not memorable enough. T2 will always be the best of the bunch for me, although they are also way beyond me in difficulty.

In Turrican 1 I like time mines (down+fire?) even if they are useless... I don't like "wipe'em out" from Turrican 2 (down, hold fire and space?). It's silly weapon when you fly everywhere as "star" shooting.

They aren't useless. You can eliminate every stationary cannon on screen with it, but the best thing about the mines is that they also eliminate every ant on screen (world 3&4). The ants take a lot of hits from any of your standard weapons - one mine is enough to destroy every displayed ant.

Really? I didn't know that. I thought it was for moving enemies and my timing was crap or something.

Great! After years of playing the game (and the compo) you tell me there is actually a use for the mines in world 3 & 4...
Guess I accidentally used them, but was too thick to notice Anyway, thanks for the info john (now can we replay this round? Please??? )

Aww...
Okay, guess I'll just play it again for myself, to see how the mines work against the ants.
