game best on which platform

Does a website exist that lists a game and which system it was best developed for? I know for example that Lemmings is way better on the Amiga than DOS, but I'm curious if any games are better on DOS than Amiga. The same goes for Atari, C64, etc..

Flashback better on DOS (more colors)
Another World better on DOS (more levels)

but if such a site exists, the choice may be subjective...

Yeah, very subjective... I mean if a game on one platform has more colors but worse sound than on another platform, which one is the best then?

We had that discussion about Gods and other games. I completely agree that it's very subjective.

And of course, more/better graphics and sounds/music don't mean a better game by themselves...

Flashback is better on the MAC 68k ...it runs at high res.. 640x480..x256

Another world is better on the Amiga because it's the original...the other levels added on the DOS version was a vulgar addition

dune 2 pc is better in my opinion. I like the midi tunes and there are more sounds and slightly improved graphics, plus no disk swapping of course The only annoyance back in the day was to get the extra sounds working because you needed an insane amount of conventional memory free (624k if I'm not mistaken), but nowadays we have dosbox to fix that.

Just about the disk swapping : http://www.whdownload.com/games/Upda...1.10b_1548.zip
You are right, but I would then say play Dune 2000 instead. It's kind of a remake of Dune 2 and much better

I think it's a good idea, ever since dosbox got around I've been building a "best of" kinda retro setup.

Even if it's subjective a lot of them still are pretty clear cut, especially if you include 3DO and emulating a dos PC with wavetable midi.

Nop, I prefer Dune 2. Dune 2000 is a buggy and boring Red Alert. Not that I like Red Alert, I'm too stupid to find the strategy in it. But I'm not judging, I'm just too much of a turn based addict (can't wait for the new Colonization!!!)

Myth on the C64 had better music and better response times and movement of the main sprite than Myth on the Amiga.

I absolutely LOVE Myth on the C64, but as soon as i played the Amiga version, i felt like covering the disk in petrol and putting a match to it.

I am with you on that one, the Ninja series was literally butchered on the Amiga

It is called Civilization 4: Colonization. Don't let the name fool you, it is a stand alone game and the civ 4 "engine" has been upgraded for it. It looks freaking amazing (not far cry 2 beautiful of course, but still) and if what I read is true it still plays identically to the original, only with a 300 turn limit to win.

Great news indeed. I like the Civ 4 engine and always wanted to see a new Colonization. Since they have done a good job with Civ 4 I'm sure this one will be really cool. Thanks for the info gimbal

Are you talking about collecting what seems to be the best game for each system?
