Coverdisk madness on eBay

Right, I mentioned this in passing in another thread, but one seller on eBay seems to be offering coverdisks from all sort of UK Amiga mags left right and centure, and for peanuts each.

I am currently debating whether to buy a large majority of them, but feel that it would all add up and be quite expensive on my part in the end.

Therefore it would really help if I could get a speedy response on this and work out which disks I should bother with since my main intention is to send disks to someone who can get them imaged/AMR'ed for me.

A word of warning:
The seller seems to have mistakenly listed some TO ST coverdisks under the Amiga name (TO08, Big Run/Penguins).

I think I saw those disks, they are like 99p each or something right? Far too expensive...

Looks as if they've started selling the Amiga Power coverdisks now as well - including the likes of the Sensible disk, Super Stardust and Pinball Prelude. I think it was established though that you guys already had these disks but couldn't image them. Is there a holdup in the SPS front?

I still got TONS of Amiga Computing coverdisks stored untouched since 10+ years in a big plastic box, maybe it's worth making an inventory of them if someone's interested?

Apart from that, I'm well annoyed that there's hardly an active AMR staff member around here to regularly discuss coverdisk deals with. I can't/won't buy anything unless either a) I'm told they need the disk and it's ok for me to do so, or b) I personally consider a disk to be of such important value that I end up buying it before it disappears. Now like I said it would be very costly for me to grab a lot of these disks at once atm which is why I wrote a list and why I'd appreciate feedback at some point soon, rather than several weeks down the line when the disks are likely to be snapped up or withdrawn from sale. There's a lot of gaps in AMR's collection which is why I'd love to help fill them in!

Oooooh! I thought you guys had some Amiga User International disks on the site also but seemingly not. Well guess what? Those are on eBay too! But seeing as I'm not very experienced with AUI content (despite having a few coverdisks of theirs back in the day) I'm not sure whether to list those too. AFAIR, AUI mainly just bundled a load of random utilities on what they called their 'Superdisks'.

I feel your pain MethodGit.

Unfortunately there is only really the SPS List (for Amiga games only) on their website that I am aware of as far as preserved lists, or what you actually find downloadable on the AMR website, or TOSEC.

Perhaps you could volunteer to collate lists of coverdisks for AMR? (If you have the spare time that no one has). Maybe ppl would then be happy that someone is spending time gathering it into a superlist and would be forthcoming with their own collection lists.

If you really want to preserve the disks then buy them, then wait for a response, if they don't answer then upload them yourself somewhere else so that they are at least safe. The disks they already have are in ADF format, so it should be pretty easy to do it yourself. If you don't have an amiga or some form of making the ADFs then send them to me and I will do it.

I will not help with the money side of things, its tough enough just trying to survive in this recession.

I would say the majority of people out there would love to buy those disks for preservation, but its not exactly a high priority compared to eating.

Galaxy was last logged in on the 3rd of June, Codetapper was last in on the 12th of June. Give them a chance, they probably haven't even seen this thread yet.

Those who have probably don't care or couldn't help even if they wanted to.

By 'probably' you mean they view this thread as a guest and laugh at MethodGit? Hmmm...

If it's really that urgent it might be an idea to send an eMail to them, instead of uselessly bumping this thread.
Oh and I don't have any of the disks (not that I'm mad about getting them anyway).

This is the first time I've logged in for ages so didn't see this thread, and I am very busy with real life at the moment - so the Amiga has to take a back seat. All coverdisks I have are already online, so if there are any you have found that are not on AMR, we don't have them, so if you want to purchase, feel free.
