Coverdisk madness on eBay

Right, I mentioned this in passing in another thread, but one seller on eBay seems to be offering coverdisks from all sort of UK Amiga mags left right and centure, and for peanuts each.

I am currently debating whether to buy a large majority of them, but feel that it would all add up and be quite expensive on my part in the end.

Therefore it would really help if I could get a speedy response on this and work out which disks I should bother with since my main intention is to send disks to someone who can get them imaged/AMR'ed for me.

These are the ones I am currently eyeing up that are on eBay as I speak:

Amiga Action
AA20, May 1991, Disk 2 (Armour Geddon)
AA21, June 1991, Disk 1 (Purple Saturn Day)
AA22, July 1991, Disk 1 (R-Type 2)
AA43, April 1993, Disk 1 (Lemmings 2/Walker)
AA51, December 1993, Disk 2 (Brutal Sports Football)
AA57, May 1994, Disk 1 (Sierra Soccer World Challenge)
AA58, June 1994, Disk 1 (Puggsy)
AA58, June 1994, Disk 2 (Rugby League Coach)
AA59, July 1994, Disk 2 (Naughty Ones)
AA69, April 1995, Disk 4 (Blues Brothers)
AA75, October 1995, Disk 2 (Seemore Doolittle's Toyland Capers)
AA76, November 1995, Disk 2 (Hollywood Hustler)
AA77, December 1995, Disk 2 (Scramble/Galaxians)
AA78, Christmas 1995, Disk 2 (Winning Post)

Others:
AA45, May 1993, both disks - not available on AMR but in TOSEC, are you expecting fresh dumps?
AA46, July 1993, Disk 2 (MOTD/Bully/AWorm/Pharaoh) - although this can be found in TOSEC, it's still 'Missing' according to AMR. Do you only want a new dump?
AA54, February 1994, Disk 2 (Fury Of The Furries/Baldy) - see AA45.
AA55, March 1994, both disks - ditto.
AA71, June 1995, Disk 1 (Brutal: Paws of Fury/Thinkamania) - ditto (also on Amiga Coverdisks).
AA73, August 1995, both disks - ditto.
AA74, September 1995, Disk 2 (Quik The Thunder Rabbit disk 3) - ditto.

Amiga Computing
ACv2n7, December 1989
ACv2n8, January 1990
AC87, June 1995, Disk 1 (Speris Legacy)
AC96, February 1996 (Hillsea Lido)
AC??, date unknown (Slipstream) (photo is too blurry for me to be able to read the date)
AC??, November 199x (Doopsi) (again photo too blurry to make full date clear)

Amiga Format
AF24, July 1991, Disk 1 (Archipelagos)
AF53, December 1993, Disk 2 (Uridium 2)
AF84, May 1996, Subscriber Disk
AF85, June 1996, Subscriber Disk
AF87, August 1996, Disk 1 (typeSMITH)
AF87, August 1996, Disk 2 (S.Doolittle Toyland/Charlie Chimp Tutankhamun)
AF89, October 1996, Disk 2 (R3/The Worms/Foundation Editor)
AF104, December 1997, Disk 2 (Assimilation/Bubble)

Others:
AF36, July 1992, Disk 1 (CanDo Jr) - not available on AMR but in Nth Dimension, are you expecting fresh dumps?

CU Amiga
March 1991 (Human Killing Machine)
July 1996, Disk 2 (Primal Rage)

Others:
July 1993, Disk 2 (The Patrician/F17 Challenge) - not available on AMR but in Nth Dimension and Amiga Coverdisks, are you expecting fresh dumps?

The One
TO01, October 1988 (Fusion Dream/Nebulus)
TO06, March 1989 (Blasteroids)
TO31, April 1991 (Brat)
TO34, July 1991, Disk 1 (Atomix)
TO43, April 1992 (Parasol Stars/Space Crusade(?)) (Intriguingly, the label on the disk does not match the one scanned up on AMR - early/later version without Space Crusade perhaps???)
TO58, July 1993, Disk 1 (Cannon Fodder)
TO59, August 1993, Disk 1 (Trex Warrior)
TO62, November 1993, Disk 1 (Uridium 2)
TO64, January 1994, Disk 2 (Zool 2/Beetle)
TO68, May 1994, Disk 1 (Mr.Nutz/Clockwiser/Ouch!/TanxNStuff)
TO70, July 1994, Disk 1 (International Sensible Soccer/Out To Lunch)
TO70, July 1994, Disk 2 (Empire Soccer/Quik The Thunder Rabbit)
TO88, Xmas 1995 (Hollywood Hustler)

Others:
TO59, August 1993, Disk 2 (Ishar 2/Giddy/Snakes) - not available on AMR but in Nth Dimension and TOSEC, are you expecting fresh dumps?
TO66, March 1994, Disk 1 (Benefactor/Ork Attack) - not available on AMR but can be found on Amiga Classix CD - would you prefer a fresh dump though?
TO66, March 1994, Disk 2 (Championship Manager Italia/Premier Picks) - not available on AMR but in Nth Dimension, are you expecting fresh dumps?
TO67, April 1994, both disks - not available on AMR but in TOSEC, are you expecting fresh dumps?
TO69, June 1994, Disk 1 (Armour Geddon 2/Digger/Touch'n'Go) - not available on AMR but can be found on Amiga Classix CD and TOSEC - would you prefer a fresh dump however? Also this disk appears to be under two seperate auctions (with different names) by the same seller.

A word of warning:
The seller seems to have mistakenly listed some TO ST coverdisks under the Amiga name (TO08, Big Run/Penguins).

Zero
Z17, March 1991 (Hunter/Super Huey/Action Fighter/Trantor)

If you're able to find the time to state whether you don't have, have, or have-but-needs-SPSing, that would be pretty helpful. Cheers!

Try responding to your PM's or other posts you made!
I am still waiting to hear what you are doing with your Monkey Islands...

I think I saw those disks, they are like 99p each or something right? Far too expensive...

Looks as if they've started selling the Amiga Power coverdisks now as well - including the likes of the Sensible disk, Super Stardust and Pinball Prelude. I think it was established though that you guys already had these disks but couldn't image them. Is there a holdup in the SPS front?

I still got TONS of Amiga Computing coverdisks stored untouched since 10+ years in a big plastic box, maybe it's worth making an inventory of them if someone's interested?

If you want to, go ahead!

Apart from that, I'm well annoyed that there's hardly an active AMR staff member around here to regularly discuss coverdisk deals with. I can't/won't buy anything unless either a) I'm told they need the disk and it's ok for me to do so, or b) I personally consider a disk to be of such important value that I end up buying it before it disappears. Now like I said it would be very costly for me to grab a lot of these disks at once atm which is why I wrote a list and why I'd appreciate feedback at some point soon, rather than several weeks down the line when the disks are likely to be snapped up or withdrawn from sale. There's a lot of gaps in AMR's collection which is why I'd love to help fill them in!

Oooooh! I thought you guys had some Amiga User International disks on the site also but seemingly not. Well guess what? Those are on eBay too! But seeing as I'm not very experienced with AUI content (despite having a few coverdisks of theirs back in the day) I'm not sure whether to list those too. AFAIR, AUI mainly just bundled a load of random utilities on what they called their 'Superdisks'.

Well someone bought the AP Sensible disk already. Must be a popular collector's item, for sure!

(Am I really going to be the only one propping this thread? Geez what a dead forum-section this has turned out to be....)

I feel your pain MethodGit.

Unfortunately there is only really the SPS List (for Amiga games only) on their website that I am aware of as far as preserved lists, or what you actually find downloadable on the AMR website, or TOSEC.

Perhaps you could volunteer to collate lists of coverdisks for AMR? (If you have the spare time that no one has). Maybe ppl would then be happy that someone is spending time gathering it into a superlist and would be forthcoming with their own collection lists.

If you really want to preserve the disks then buy them, then wait for a response, if they don't answer then upload them yourself somewhere else so that they are at least safe. The disks they already have are in ADF format, so it should be pretty easy to do it yourself. If you don't have an amiga or some form of making the ADFs then send them to me and I will do it.
I will not help with the money side of things, its tough enough just trying to survive in this recession. I would say the majority of people out there would love to buy those disks for preservation, but its not exactly a high priority compared to eating.

Galaxy was last logged in on the 3rd of June, Codetapper was last in on the 12th of June. Give them a chance, they probably haven't even seen this thread yet. Those who have probably don't care or couldn't help even if they wanted to.

Take a chill pill...

By 'probably' you mean they view this thread as a guest and laugh at MethodGit? Hmmm... If it's really that urgent it might be an idea to send an eMail to them, instead of uselessly bumping this thread.
Oh and I don't have any of the disks (not that I'm mad about getting them anyway).

Thanks for the olive branch, skateblind. I may have to consider it the way things are going atm.

TO68, May 1994, Disk 1 (Mr.Nutz/Clockwiser/Ouch!/TanxNStuff)

is now sold to another bidder.

This is the first time I've logged in for ages so didn't see this thread, and I am very busy with real life at the moment - so the Amiga has to take a back seat. All coverdisks I have are already online, so if there are any you have found that are not on AMR, we don't have them, so if you want to purchase, feel free.

PS: Don't email my hotmail account, it's just spam and I hardly ever check it!
