Sound stuttering / CPU issues?
Using the latest 2.7.13dev I'm running a A4000/040-NoMMU with JIT enabled and I try to play some mods through EaglePlayer. The mods will generally start sounding okay, but after about 20-30 seconds there is some noticable lag and static/stuttering. Its as if the CPU is being overloaded or something.
Has anyone noticed this? |

Did you check the chosen "Engines" in Eagleplayer and there settings ?
Did you try to play XM Mods with alot of Channels ? For an easy test you could use hippoplayer .... Worth a try... i guess Last edited by Nibbler; 11 May 2016 at 18:42. Reason: little typo ( those dawm wireless keyboards lags .... ;) |

I tried messing with the "engines" and "timing" settings in eagle player, but nothing seemed to resolve the issue.
Pretty sure its an emulation issue in latest FS-UAE. When I fire up the same exact images in WinUAE, there is no stutter or lag whatsoever. |

I don't have hippoplayer; however, I did test AmigaAMP and the results are interesting:
On FS-UAE, AmigaAMP GUI loads up and its able to load the playlist; however, pressing play results in nothing happening, no sound. It looks like its trying to play, but no output, and the progress bar does not move. On WinUAE, AmigaAMP GUI loads and the mods play just fine from the playlist. No stutter, no lag. Again, using the same exact HD image on both.. I'm running on a Linux host if that matters.. |

I'm quite sure the AmigaAMP freeze is due to AHI prefs being set up to use the (Win)UAE AHI device. You should change AHI prefs to use Paula instead (or Toccata). Make sure to change the correct AHI unit for AmigaAMP.

Thanks Frode! AmigaAMP now is able to play once I set the AHI prefs to Paula; however, there is still a significant stutter/lag/static when playing mods for some reason whether I use AmigaAMP or Eagle Player. The same exact HD Image in WinUAE (running under Wine) works w/o any stutter or lag.
Update: tried it with and without the JIT (64-bit) and same thing happens.. about 26 seconds into playing a mod, the system will begin to lag, stutter. This is with emulated 68030 or 68040-NOMMU on latest 2.7.14dev. Last edited by gururise; 16 May 2016 at 00:55. |
