The Definitive Amiga Game

If you had to pick a game that defined the Amiga, what would it be? I'm talking about games that were a 'must play' for every Amiga owner and showed off the power that was Amiga. Not being an Amiga owner back in the day (I went from an Atari 400 to an Apple IIe to a PC), I'm looking for games I missed out on.

For me I guess it would have been Defender of the Crown. Sure it was released on other platforms (I played it on a CGA IBM PCjr), but the Amiga version was first. I actually recall seeing it on demo in a computer store a short time after it came out and thought that such graphics weren't possible.

Wouldn't that be Turrican 4?

I used to love the Turrican series on the Genesis, I'll check them out on the Amiga.

Oh you have never played Turrican 2 on the Amiga!? Damn you are missing out big time!! Other games that made amazing use of the Amiga are Lionheart, Elfmania (not a great game gameplay wise though), Stardust...and its too late in the night to think of any others, but i am sure you will get many other responses mate

And i WISH there was a Turrican 4

Again?

OK.

Chaos Engine, SOTB 3, Turrican 2. Which one to choose?

Turrican 2 was mentioned (and it will be again) so ... Shadow of the Beast 3. I lost my virginity with this one and will never forget it

You can check this thread if you want to get some more inspiration.

You could also directly check the top/favorite/etc... amiga games threads around since people will probably post the same thing they posted there.

Here are a few:
Cody Presents... The Amiga Power Top 100 No. 6 (1996)
Most favourite/popular game final FINAL EX+ turbo alpha zero (edit:what Sensi posted above)
Best 2 player games

100% agreed I know that not everybody will chime in (waiting for the Captive posse to show up ), but Turrican 2 is really a masterpiece on the Miggy. Defender of the Crown and the Shadow of the Beast series are other games that defined the Amiga and of course so many other ones. The Bitmap Brother games and also the Team 17 ones (even if some people will heartly disagree on the matter ) also shaped my view on how a Amiga game should look like

Yeah, Turrican 2 is the perfect Amiga-starter.

I'm an Amiga-noob myself, and that's the game that kindled my interest in the Ami.

Definitive is so tough to nail down. I think all of the Turricans and Shadow of the Beasts are must plays and I'm willing to risk the controversy by saying Gods (what can I say? I like it!) I also love Leander but definitive is a stretch. Hrm. Thinking... thinking... I've got it!

Speedball 2!

Brian the Lion, Stardust, Mr.Nuts, Awesome, Shadow of the Beast all displayed the Amiga capabilities pretty well! Turrican I was less impressed with because of how great the c64 version was. Doesn't stop it being an amazing game though!
