Only a small fraction of all Amiga games ever made benefitted from or required an accelerator to be playable. The common machines were the Amiga 500 with 512K or 1M of RAM and the Amiga 1200 with 2M, and these were always the target specs.

The games you have on your hard drive are probably so called WHDLoad-installs of the original disk based versions and because they can be run from the Workbench they will require a bit of extra RAM.

With a 2M expansion you should be able to run most of them, though I would recommend a 4 or 8M expansion as these WHDLoad-installs run better when they can load all the game files into RAM at once.

Considering the prices that ram expansions go for on ebay, you can't go wrong with the aca1230 if they are the same price as they where at Christmas, but be quick they sell fast

Did you get one mate? I've got a spare Blizzard 1230mk iv that I can throw in the post for you, bought it a while back off Amibay its been modded with battery holder and has 32mb ram (70ns?) if I remember correctly.

It will probably eventually get thrown out so it's probably best a fellow Amigan gives it a good home instead.
