Robocop 3
Does anyone have Robocop 3 working in WHDLoad? I have an original copy, and my WHDLoad is registered, but no success
Tried : 1) Run the installer on the A1200, put all three disks in when requested. Install completes. Run the game and get a red face type logo with scrolling bars in the background (like a decruncher) but this never goes away. 2) Set up my trusty A500 (in case the Amiga Technologies drive in the A1200 was the problem) and use that to create ADF images of the disks on my PC. Then run the installer on WinUAE and use the ADF images. Installer completes but when I run the game it says invalid or unsupported disk version. What am I doing wrong? I have an A1200 with Blizzard 1230-IV and 8Mb. |

Have just read something about the Platinum Edition is the only version that works on WinUAE.
Wonder what version the WHDLoad installer is expecting? |

These authors are always ready to support new ORIGINAL (!) versions of a game. You simply have an original that's not yet supported. Last edited by andreas; 02 July 2003 at 18:42. |

Anyway... A working version is in the ZONE for ya. Haven't played it for some time but I believe it should be working fine.

Will transfer it over to the A1200 for a "proper play" tomorrow. I think I'll check the CRC-32's for your files against mine. If they're different I'll contact one of the WHDLoad guys you've all mentioned and see if they want to take a look at my version. Thanks again |

I think the problem may lie in the anti-piracy "dongle" that was supplied with your original version (did you forget? ). At the time it was considered revolutionary and was going to halt piracy once and for all. The dongle itself was a small piece of hardware that connected to your unused joystick port. The game would not boot without it...... unless it was cracked of course! Which it was. 5 hours after the game's release... !
Did Ocean look embarassed or was it all a ploy to try and increase pre-orders? We shall never know! Either way, that's likely to be the reason why early versions are not supported (I think they chucked the dongle after that). PS - Trivia quiz: Can anyone name the one other game that Ocean tried to include a dongle with, before giving up on them altogether? |

John,
Yes my version has the dongle (so it must be the original release), but as I understood it the WHDLoad installer removes the copy protection? The version we've got in The Zone has word-from-manual protection but is cracked. Maybe I should have tried using the dongle with my WHDLoad install... |

Actually my point was that maybe WHDLoad refused to work with that version because of the dongle? I don't know!
Doesn't anyone know the other Ocean game that was released wth a dongle? |
