LOL

...but yeah, I guess you're right. There's a lot to do in order to make the perfect MAC / ShapeShifter .HDF:

Preliminary:
  • Download the game files.
  • In "Basilisk II for Windows", use one of my pre-setup "MAC OS" .HFV files.
  • Using "HFVExplorer", create a larger than required .HFV file, and put the .SIT file or .TOAST_.SIT inside.
  • Install "StuffIt" and extract the files.
  • Move the .TOAST file out of emulation and onto my Windows hard drive.
  • Rename the .TOAST file --> .TOAST.ISO, and mount in "Daemon Tools Lite".
  • Test the game, make any game option changes, create an "Alias" of the game EXE and add into the "System Folder"--> "Startup Items".
  • Now recreate a new .HFV to the required size but add 10MB, in case of addition files created through use / save games etc...
  • Copy everything from the larger than required .HFV file --> new perfectly sized .HFV file.

WinUAE:
  • Use my "ClassicWB 3.1 Lite with ShapeShifter" .HDF.
  • Add in one of my pre-setup MAC / ShapeShifter .HDFs e.g. "Prince of Persia" and copy the whole hard drive contents to "DH0:0".
  • Copy the "DH0:0/ShapeShifter Prefs" file to "DH0:ShapeShifter".
  • Run the ShapeShifter configuration window, adjust the "Graphics...", the "Volumes/Disks...", the "SCSI...", the "Memory... (p)" and then save.
  • Copy this "ShapeShifter Prefs" file back to "DH0:0/ShapeShifter".
  • Copy the .HFV files created in "Basilisk II for Windows" into "DH0:0/GameHDDs".
  • Modify the "DH0:0/S/Startup-Sequence" for any "MacJoyPad" buttons required for CD32 control.
  • Work out the size needed, create a brand new .HDF and copy all files from "DH0:0" into this.
  • Create the .UAE configuration file.
  • Test the game in WinUAE and take a title / screenshot.
  • Put everything into directories "Configurations" and "Games\<gamedir>", and then WinRAR up.
  • Finally test again then upload.

The end result is that you guys just have to double-click the game from the list in WinUAE and play

I'm an expert at this now, but it still takes some time indeed to get everything perfect, even small games

Links sucks on the Amiga too

Was just having a look on the Mac website - so to run the games after you have downloaded them - they have to be extracted inside a Mac emulator - am I reading that correctly?

Best to do inside a MAC emulator due to resources / forks; this is why I use "Basilisk II for Windows" to prepare everything, and also "HFVExplorer" to create ".HFV" files.

Once inside the MAC emulator you sometime also have to extract the ".SIT" files; and then bring the file back out of emulation for use in WinUAE i.e. ".TOAST_.SIT" files which are then extracted to ".TOAST" files.

To be honest, doing all this (creating / setting up ".HFV" files, installing the MAC OS, extracting ".SIT" files etc) was a bit of a learning curve for me as I've never used MAC OS previous to OSX before; not to mention working out what's needed to get ShapeShifter running in WinUAE.

Wow, lot of work just to get us "just-click-and-play" games
Thank you very much, especially now for the "HoMMs".. Great series . Always loved HoMM

I've never play any HoMM games before; they are actually really cool

One small issue though...

With "Heroes of Might and Magic", you can save / load a "Standard Game" and a "Campaign Game" without issue.

With "Heroes of Might and Magic II: The Succession Wars", you can save / load a "Standard Game" fine. With a "Campaign Game" however, you can save but when you load WinUAE freezes completely.

Really not sure why this occurs; in "Basilisk II for Windows" this works fine.

Although it's not really recommended, I guess you'll have to use "Save States" for a "Campaign Game" in the 2nd game of the series...

So you should try HoMM III It's IMHO the best part and after 20 years it's still being developed (unofficial). With HD+ patch and Horn of the Abyss addon works and looks great on modern computers

Phew, takes forever to finish a Campaign Game; like 4+ hours...

Just finished the 2nd one:
Built up a killer, strong character; and found some Genies who kick butt:

Here is Gabriel Knight: Sins of the Fathers
You can blame Estrayk; as I read his post here: http://eab.abime.net/showpost.php?p=...8&postcount=45

So, please just download / extract this archive into "C:\WinUAE".

...I also tried The Beast Within: A Gabriel Knight Mystery, but couldn't get it working in "Basilisk II for Windows"; plus its 6 x CDs

Here is Old_Bob's updated Tapper with sound!!!

So, please just do the following:
  • Delete the <gamedir> "C:\WinUAE\Games\Tapper".
  • Download / extract this archive into "C:\WinUAE".

Hmmm, I've been testing saving / restoring a game.

Sigh, for some reason this only seems to work 20% of the time

I mean, the game saves ok, but when you try to restore you get this error:
No idea why

Tested in "Basilisk II for Windows" and there are no issues.

Anyway, again although it's not really recommended, I guess you'll have to use "Save States"...
