@AGS

Have you thought about using AISS for the toolbar icons?

http://www.masonicons.info/6.html

Bugs:
-Create new file.txt does not seem to work (it does not create a file).
-The icon toggle Check-Mark box, although it does perform the designated action, in my rtg setup, it doesnīt show it has been activated or deactivated. A tick, a cross or even a colour change in the box would fix it.

Lister refresh seems to strange sometimes when drag&drop a file. Noticed refresh of source lister or refresh of target lister before copy and after copy. I also got a system freeze while drag&drop but it might be related to the hits.

An old issue is the file/dir comments behaviour if you can remember. See attached screen shot.

Confirmation requester buttons should be in opposite direction. I.e. Instead of "cancel" "delete" it should be "delete" "cancel" what is more common.

This new toolkit is adverse to any Amiga standard, so it's natural that requester buttons are the other way around.

@daxb

What is your OS version please, where the comments are trashed?

EDIT: Ah, I see, its 3.1. Please could you try with 3.5 and/or 3.9 if you can? According to the OS developer docs there is a bug in the Amiga OS that might cause this. On my system it works and I have 3.9 with no boing bags.

EDIT+:

* Please could you try what is displayed for a file that actually has a real comment?

But as far I can see in the developer-docs, finally the filesystem version might reveal if the bug is present. I can also imagine that the bug is somehow fixed in the emulator I use.

Cannot test with OS >=3.5. If a comment exists it is shown correct. Only files/drawers without comments show garbage what seems to be contents from memory.

New version

* exchanged order of buttons in requesters, now "cancel" is at the right

* try to fix the comments bug by clearing some memory before

Dowloadable in the first post of this thread.

Is your screenshot taken in AmiKit?

Do you mean graphical refresh or re-read of the dir (can distinguish that in really large dirs with large amount of files which will take longer than graphical refresh)? Only re-read of destination should happen, and only after successful file action.

Please could you check if the many rereads happen only in ram disk or also in other volumes? There is a part of support for auto-rereads missing in the OS until incl. 3.9 and maybe I should not use it at all.

Screen shot and test on my A1200 040 32MB OS3.1 DOpusMagellanII running.

I don`t know what you mean (difference) by graphical refresh and re-read of dir but guess re-read.

The list refresh sometimes work sometimes not. E.g. sometimes "show volumes" and a double click on a device does nothing, only the device name is shown at the directory string gadget. A click on "hide/show icon" button list the chosen device then. Further I noticed while two lister open with same device listed and "create a new directory" resulted in several lister refreshes on both listers. When I tried to reproduce it it doesn`t happen.

I did a test with MuGuardianAngel running and got a "NULL pointer" hit when list Ram:.

And by the way, "create folder" with name "new folder" is not good or just wrong. Please name it "drawer" or "directory" instead.

@daxb

Graphical refresh is when the GUI engine just draws the lister and listrows. Re-read is when a directory is read in. Reading dir will cause graphical refresh aswell, but graphical refresh may happen without re-read.

I changed "folder" to "directory" everywhere.

The hits seem to happen inside OS code. It is hard to find what in my code causes this.

Further, the "icons" check and the pattern gadget should be disabled when showing volumes or assigns. Thanks for pointing out that.

Ok, then it is re-read refresh. Just created a new directory with two listers open (both same dir listed) to get the re-read bug. I remember similar behaviour with the xoxo gui filelister. However, this time one lister did on refresh, the second did two refreshes, first one, second two and so on. The file/dir list wasn`t complete between refresh. I guess (not so easy to see) that one or more directories were adde to list and then a refresh happens. Then the next directories add to list + refersh and so on.

The graphical refresh happens multiple times while reading a dir, so that you can see what is read almost immediately. This happens asynchronously. On slower systems it might be more wise to refresh the lister only when contents are complete. Is this like what you mean or something else?
