A1200 New Motherboard Woes
Hi All,
I recently obtained a PAL motherboard for my Amiga 1200. The NTSC motherboards works flawlessly but when I run a couple selected demos, etc... it asks to make sure I am at 50 Hz. I also hate having to hold the mouse buttons down on each reboot an select PAL. Anyway, I figured get a PAL motherboard would eliminate that. I put the new mother board in but I am having issues now. Games like Aladdin AGA on WHLoad doesn't get past the intro screen and the chip memory goes down to a very low number. Also, after a few reboots I notice the Hard Drive doesn't see to load everything and freezes. I thought it was a problem with the hard drive until I took the PAL motherboard out and put the NTSC one in and everything worked again. Tried two more times so I know it must be something to do with the PAL motherboard. Has anyone heard of something like this? Could I have a bad ram chip? On the Commodore 64 they had a diagnostic program that checked each chip, etc... Does one exist for the Amiga? Thanks for any help. |

Yes, it appears that something is wrong with your PAL motherboard. Run the "showconfig" utility and see if it shows 2 MB of Chip Ram available.
It could also be other problems, such as dead CIA 8520, leaked capacitors etc. Also, are you using the same accelerator in both? |
