Floppy drive problems

I can no longer get a floppy drive to work in my 4000T. I just took the cable and floppy from my 4000D which works and connect it to the 4000T and the motor spins on the floppy but the LED never lights and the drive never reads a floppy. I have tried 5 other drives and the same thing. 3 of the 5 drives are HD FB-357A drives and the cable has the twist.

Any ideas?

Thanks!

Twist is for rdy signal swap. So DF0: = no twist, DF1: = twist.
Thats how I had it setup.

You have to set the jumper on the motherboard for 1.44MB floppy drive.

Thanks, I found the manual and you are right. The 4000 Desktop uses the twist in the cable for DF0: However, the 4000T does not use the twist.

I have a floppy drive workiing now!!!!! THANKS!!

There's at least three different kinds of twist floppy cables, so it's a bit hard to say anything definite without more info.

Good that you got it working. :-)

Jope, Yes you are right. I took floppy cables out of my 2000, 4000D and 4000T and they are all different

I updated http://eab.abime.net/showpost.php?p=212932&postcount=3 with info on the floppy cables (and unrelated to this thread, I also wrote a long tirade about motor control)
