This game really sucks! Yes, has top-quality audio-video but the gameplay is ridicule, there's almost no strategy except 'hit the button fast!' and you can die with 2 hits... c'mon! Is in The Zone anyway

No, you're probably misleaded by the great gfx but belive me, this game is actually a crap to play, and beat'em'ups are one of the category I prefer (i.e. I have some experience with all SF, Final Fight, DDragon, Virtua Fighter etc. games)
It's not "more realistic", if you want something like that try Panza Kick Boxing...

@CFOU

Regarding older messages in this thread, I'm sorry that I haven't given you any accurate bug report yet, but it seems that I can't get CP to work anyhow on my A4000.. (ks. 3.1, 2 Mb Chip, 16 Mb Fast, 040/25, os 3.9 with bb1 & bb2 installed) . I've also tried to run the game straight from dos with no startup-sequence with different whdload options, but it don't fully work.
It always suddenly quits to dos with no reason.
I like Capital Punishment very much and would be happy if the most recent version of whdload installed CP could be uploaded once more to th Zone ?!?

The HDF I found works, but requires keyboard input for the (cracked) copy protection. The slaves don't work, although they automatically skip the copy protection. Is there a way to get through the copy protection without a keyboard (CD32) with the HDF image?

The 1.1a slave is fine. CD and floppy versions work fine with my real A4000 with loads of RAM. I also have a CyberstormPPC/68060. It's also doing well with WinUAE 4.1.0.

The only thing is I'm not very good at playing it. My butt is always kicked, doesn't matter what settings I use. Otherwise, well made game and pretty to look at but playing is too challenging for me. So I only enjoy the esthetics.

Haha! I was able to play Rise of the Robots some, but it has clunky game play.

There is in emulation; see this thread: Capital Punishment english version

Anyway, Stingray has provided a nice work-around and is going to look into fixing

I knew about the work-around also, but since it functions in English, I didn't think much of it. I didn't read the Doc that's in the directory about tips. I was able to finally win some fights.. I might also check the CPTrainer. I saw that a long time ago but didn't check it.

You still wanna try that CPTrainer? I bet your test HF doesn't have User-Startup? Create it, and add at least ";" as 1 liner. Press enter. Save it.
Now it give the cpcheat another go. :-)

I used some time, DamienD, getting the game to be functional with my A4000 CSPPC. Been a while since I have. From 1.0 to 1.1 it's not all that different. It's in the How that makes things happen... Whew! (You don't need a Floppy.)

Unless asked, it's not really worth it.. Use the WHDLoad version! Really!! I'm a fan of getting CLI stuff to function in some form (some more complex than others), but...not with this game. HA!

Hi 68040 users,
Can you test last attached slave (beta version) of Capital punishment on real 68040 ?
It working now on Winuae A4000 +MMU config
But warning just menu & level 1 are patched for test!!!
(don't use trainer =>known crash on TEacher's level with trainer to fix)

so just try level 1 in epic mode!

If it's working, i'll patch all levels.

thanks in advance for feedback.

regards,

PS: all levels have same problem =>interrupt $64 uses A6 register value main code (from user cpu mode)... => it's cause random access faults

PS2: it is planed to remove all OS acccesses
=>kick31 will no needed
=>not fast mem for slave will be possible (i suppose)

advantage: less memory will be required

I could not agree more. The GFX are dazzling - one of the best examples of what Amiga games can offer. That said, the game play is absolutely AWFUL. No matter what you do, you're going to end up impaled on the vertical bed of nails or whatever that thing is supposed to be.

Do you want to say that if the game would be not so difficult to play it would be a much better game?

for information to enter in secret level read following indication (or use Start level trainer).

CHAMBER:

This is a one-screen level. It is difficult if your preferred tactics is to keep the enemy away at all cost. Sarmon awaits you here, and he is the fastest warrior, so you will have to master close combat, or use Demona's whip.

This level also hides a secret level, which is the room to the right. You enter it after uppercuting the enemy from a certain distance to the right.

ps:
have somebody possiblity to post video showing how enter in secret leve with uppercut?
