New from Jens Schoenfeld

I exchanged a few emails with Jens about Scandoublers and FlickerFixers. Well Jens told me that he is working on one that he hopes to finish designs for etc over the summer.

It will be a ScanDoubler AND FlickerFixer.
Will be Toaster/Flyer (genlock) compatible.
He is awre Amiga users often stack mods inside their machines so it will be small and designed not to interfere with common mods.
He is aware of the heat issues (other SD/FF often run hot)

Price should be around €90-100 which sounds pretty fair for a SD/FF.

He is also working on the A600 accelerator (similar to Apollo 630 designs) that has previously been mentioned at Amiga.org IIRC.

Good news anyway that he is stil active and not looking to grab lots of cash from Amiga users.

Effy, you do know that the 68000 is not socketed on an A600 ??? Hence why the 630 and other A600 accels all used a clip on socket over the top. A500 CPU is socketed and a different shape/size so the two are VERY different (in shape and in mountinG)

Methanoid : sorry, didn´t know that the 68000 in an A600 is soldered. This is new to me as I never had an A600 but thanks anyway for the useful info. Now I can stop dreaming about that turboboard

Ah, but they do sell it:

Vesalia
Software Hut
KDH

They've been selling it for three years. They just never started making it.

Except for Software Hut, which lists the Flipper at $69.95. I'm quite pleased that Vesalia have stopped selling it; once upon a time, though, they did, and emailed me this:

> 1 pcs Sound card Delfina for Amiga 1200 clock port 129.00
> 129.00
>
> 1 pcs Flipper interface for connection on the
> Delfina sound card. 59.00
> 59.00

They didn't send the Flipper, though. Natch.

I gave up and wrote the money off in the end. It's not Vesalia or the others that are the problem (on the contrary, Vesalia were excellent, and I'm sure they would have sent the money back had I asked them) - it's Individual Computers selling vapourware products whilst pretending that they're already on the store shelves that gets me.

Can't see how it would be Individual Computer's fault since they're not web masters for Vesalia et al. If a hardware manufacturer hasn't delivered a product to retailers within 1.5-2 years of a proposed release date, then you'd think retailers would have enough sense to remove that product from their website (never mind actually charge customers for a product that hasn't been released!). Jens Schoenfeld has delivered quite a high proportion of Amiga (and more recently C64) products in recent years. The fact that he still designs and manufactures such high quality hardware for "dead" platforms (and provides after-sales support) is a testament to his love for the C= platforms. Few others have showed dedication to such dwindling markets.

I have to say that Vesalia is at fault for your situation. They charged you money for a product in the first place that hadn't been released at the time of ordering and then didn't refund it when it was plainly obvious that they weren't able to supply it to you. The fact that you never asked for your money back is interesting given that you're complaining about losing it here. Vesalia, although being a one-man operation, has a history in the last few years of doing things like not refunding for faulty products and charging for vapourware products, particularly with overseas customers. Do a search of the newsgroups or Amiga forums and you'll find enough evidence of it. It's the very reason why I've never ordered from Vesalia (not to mention that they usually take ages to deliver outside Europe). I know that in the past when I've ordered products from dealers like Software Hut that they haven't had stock of, they've informed me and asked whether I wanted to back-order it. They didn't go ahead and charge for stock they didn't have, which is what makes them a reputable dealer and sets them apart from dodgier Amiga dealers like Vesalia. I've been burned once or twice by Amiga dealers in the past.....but you live and learn, otherwise you end up being quite a bit poorer and frequently angry and upset.

I ordered to Vesalia, about two years ago, no. 1 Amiga Monitor M1438S
for euro 49,90 cables included. After 3/4 months and 2/3 e-mails I received it.

Last year I ordered n. 2 cd-rom drive in TraxData case with power
supply ide-splitter included, plus n. 2 original power supply
for A500/A1200. I received all in about 20-30 days.

Excellent buy at very good price.

No complains to do except for german manuals or instructions.
