cdrom help

Hi guys,
I am the proud owner of a 1200 having got the bug via UAE on my PC.
I am in need of some help.I bought a cdrom player from Ebay - it has no software with it and i have connected it using ide via a converter ribbon cable.I cannot believe that it refuses to be recognized by the software (asimCDFS).The hard drive is fine connected to the same cable as the cd rom.The slave / master jumper is ok .....i'm stuck...er help somebody ....i have run out of ideas
Yours in desperation
Dave

AmiCDFS - try it dude, it may solve your problem. Available from Aminet, but I can post to the Zone if you can't be arsed to surf Aminet.

I run a SCSI CDR drive on my 1200, no probs but lots of drivers......

The internal IDE bus does not recognise CD-ROM drives without an additional ATAPI driver. AFAIK AsimCDFS should come with such an ATAPI driver, but I am not sure. AmiCDFS does not contain an ATAPI driver. Other possibilities are IDEfix (shareware) or AmigaOS 3.5 or 3.9 (both commercial).
