If the reading is higher then it would suggest a bad trace?

Yes, a higher value means that you are measuring through pull-up resistors, ICs or other components where the current can flow. If the schematic says that those points are directly connected, the resistance should be close to 0 ohms.

For these kind of checks you are better off getting a multimeter with a continuity test function rather than checking the resistance values. If you hear a tone when you probe the pins then you have a good connection. No tone due to a break or high resistance means no signal will get through.

Any would do, just check the feature includes continuity testing. I bought this cheap one and it has worked out well
