Urban legends or not
Okay oldskoolers, topic is: have you ever heard about these funny/remarkable stories?
I'll give a few to start, feel free to add! UK computer magazine C+VG doing a review of Dark Castle for Amiga in 1987, not realizing they were putting a screenshot in with the text "Cracked by Lord Blitter for Bamiga Sector One" ? (I'll scan it asa I find the magazine back, I still have it somewhere!) The fight in the scene about who would be the first to crack Dragon's Lair I, with finally groups making custom copiers for just that game and selling it per copy (they make the copy for you on the spot) on copyparties? That Bob Dinnerman's beloved F/A 18 Interceptor was actually an unfinished game which was sold anyway because of the software house's impatience? |

Wasn't this an Electronic Arts release ?!? I thought it was a finished game but hey it wouldn't have been the first time a game was ever released unfinished, nor will it be the last

Not an Amiga story but DEFINATELY an Urban Legend (I think).
I once heard a story from a tech support guy about a call he had. Apparently he had been called to remove a guys credit card from his floppy disk. This was because the guy thought when you did your online shopping thats where your credit card went to pay for transactions True or Urban Legend ??? Who Knows |

when you touch the magnetic disc on the floppy with your finger, and put the disc on your amiga , you will see the fingerprint on your screen

Urban legend or not...I don't know
Guy buying X-copy for the Amiga as a game, then writing to an Amiga magazine to ask how you play the game. The letter is real. But wether he really bought it thinking it was a game he had seen at a club or if he was just being funny I don't know. |

Take a look at this site for some humorous oddities related to computers, mostly PC folks of course, but hey I remember getting a lot of similar stuff on the phone at an ISP I used to work for

Commodore released the Amiga 500+ to generate money to develope the A1200, only to release their proper (lower spec) machine the A600...
--- Commodore had to sell the Amiga brand, because they spent all their money on R&D (the RISC processor) |
