The definitive 3D Graphic app list

Hi I have been trying to remember all the different 3D rendering programs for the Amiga and can only remember a handful and even then I don’t remember which were the latest and last versions.

So I was wondering if we could make a list of the latest’s and last versions of Amiga 3D software for the following Amiga chipsets OCS, ECS, and AGA?

What do you think?

Postin a few would of been a good start!!

A few that i have used...

  • Real3-D, was generally pretty easy once you got the hang of it!
  • Lightwave, i found very cool for doing 3D text/titles!
  • Imagine, bit tedious i think!
i think they run on anything in general, because you can select the type of output, (Filetype/Bit depth)

I think Imagine might still be being made for the Amiga:

http://www.imaginefa.com/Im5_feat.shtml

looks like it's up to Version 5 with Version 6 to come...

Nice to see that Imagine is still around. I remember seeing something about it being dropped a long time ago and the developer website being unavailable, the current developers must have bought the works.

I used Imagine and Real 3D myself. I liked Real 3D but polygon modeling was too consuming in the early versions and usually I ended up working with Imagine. The procedural textures in particular made Imagine my favorite.

Does anyone remember Tornado 3D? It was around in the late 90's and as far as I can recall it was pretty competent and fast. Can't seem to find any good information about it on the net these days unfortunately.

there were also:
Silver and TurboSilver, IIRC they became Imagine?
and not to forget VideoScape, later well known as Lighwave (the layout part ?!)
Sculpt series has been started with "Sculpt 3D", "Sculpt 3D-XL" and later there was "Sculpt Animate 4D".
Caligari had also different versions: Caligari, Caligari Broadcast and Caligari 24.

(edit: fixed some typos)

I just recalled there was a program called Scenery Animator, last version I heard of was 4.03. It was used to render 3D stills and animations of terrains with skies, water, trees and related details and so it wasn't a full 3D package, though it produced some very good looking renderings with fine detail.

concerning TV Paint. on aga machines you could use a driver from the EGS system to make it working without a graphics card (http://aminet.net/package/driver/video/egs71-disk1) [IIRC]
