A myth?

I've read on lots of sites that PCs can't read Amiga disks. If this is true then how could adfs be made? Can you take an adf, put it on a disk and use it on an Amiga? Or can you use a program to format the disk to an Amiga compatible format then put the adf on it? Another or, is there a special file you put on a disk to make it boot on an Amiga?
I'm asking because I just downloaded Breed '96 and want to be able to play it on my A600. I should warn you I haven't touched WinUAE yet, or any other Amiga emulators (I think emulation sux, especially when Amigas are so cheap).

The myth is correct, the pc can't read Amiga disks

most the files on the net have either been uploaded from the Amiga or ripped from Warez CD's

Actually, the myth WAS correct at one time, but is no longer correct. Vincent Joguin has created a utility called disk2fdi which will allow the PC to read an Amiga formatted diskette, for the purpose of making either an ADF or FDI disk image. The utility requires that you have a second floppy drive installed, and it runs under DOS. It will not work under Windows NT, 2000 or XP, but it works quite nicely with Windows 98 from a DOS box.

If you're interested in this utility, you can find it at:

ANYWAY

Do a search on the forum on how to transfer your disk back to your A600. You will find all the answers you need!

you can network your PC to your Amiga... there are programs available on the Amiga which read the sectors of a disk.. and store them in an ADF, which you can then transfer to your PC, this works both ways as the same software writes the sectors back to a floppy disk
