Can't make WHDLoad work on A600 + 4MB Fast
Hi there everyone and sorry for such a first post...
Bought kipper2k's 4MB Fast memory expansion for A600, installed it and the memory shows on WB. Also registered WHDLoad. Thing is that I've been using WinUAE to try some games through WHDLoad. Configured it just like my real A600: kick 37.300, WB 2.1, 1MB chip, 4MB fast and in WinUAE, almost every game works. BUT... when I take that CF card to my A600, it boots up ok but, when trying to start the games, none of them works The error I get, for example, for Kick Off is: Exception Address Error $F00C PC=$5FF932 (Slave $5BA) Read from $2A2D3 Version of WHDLoad is 17.0.5139, but tried newest also and didn't work either. What am I doing wrong ??? Thanks everyone for your help. |

Hola Amigo. Welcome to EAB! Now, this sounds like a MAXTRANSFERS fault. you can try and solve this by changing this value using HDInstalTools or HDToolsBox. pending your version you should have a MAXTRANSFERS setting of "0x1FE000" (remember to press enter after you enter this value) - pending on which HD prep program you use it will auto format it. Please note this may invalidate the drive and you will need to re-install workbench and any other data (like WHDLoad Games) ------ Currently I have been testing an A600 with Kippers 4MB Fast Ram board and 2MB CHIP and its working flawlessly from a 2GB CF Card. |

Edit: Is it a proper WHDLoad key, i.e. not pirated? Banned keys will give you all sorts of problems. |

Made it !!!!!!
It was that 0x1fe00 thingie. I was applying it to HDToolBox, as an option to the program Thanks for the help, Zetr0 !!!!! For the spanish/portuguese speaking folks, here's a nice tuto: [ Show youtube player ] demolition: yes, it is a proper key. It has even got my full name on it... EDIT: well, happiness is never complete.... Stunt Car Racer and Kick Off 2 Final Whistle work OK, but Kick Off keeps yelling me the same error I state on first post. So it seems that what works on WinUAE works on the real machine, but what fails, fails in both. Last edited by TioEmo; 01 February 2013 at 02:21. |

Unfortunately a lot of games where modded for WHDLoad running on a1200's and werent tested on a500/a600's and so dont work on the real HW - no idea why but many still work in WinUAE.
I have this problem with 1943 and a few others. |

@TioEmo
more than welcome amigo =), I suspect that the other titles that are failing are due you not having enough CHIP RAM. I noticed in your description that you only 1MB of CHIP, while a fair few games will play some are quite explicit in their need for more than the 900k left after the system loads. I will also say there might be some copy errors in some files, so it might be wise to unpack them and try again. |
