New to WinUAE
Hi, i've never used WinUAE until today. Im having some trouble in the settings trying to get my USB joystick working. Windows reports it as working fine and im able to see its responding in the calibration program from within XP, but whenever I load up a game in WinUAE I get no response out of it. I have selected both Port 0 and 1 as "USB Joystick" in "Game and I/O settings".
Also im having a little trouble with getting full screen, i've selected Fullscreen 800x600 but there seems to be a section cut off at the bottom. Any help on these matters will be greatly aprreciated! PS heres what i mean : Last edited by Infinity; 28 January 2008 at 21:55. |

Hello Infinity,
Welcome to EAB Joystick Issue: Strange, usually if Windows can see the joystick in Control Panel --> Game Controllers and you can calibrate it then you should be fine in WinUAE. Port 0: is best to leave as Mouse but set Port 1: to your joystick. You can see it listed in the dropdown menu hey? Display Issue: From looking at your screenshot this is normal. The Amiga display is mostly 640x512 so 800x600 will leave black areas. For most games usually setting 640x480 is fine though. You can also set a custom resolution of 720x576 which is cool for games that use overscan. If you video card doesn't support that resolution then use a utility called PowerStrip |

Do not put same device in both ports. (perhaps GUI should refuse to allow it)

Thanks for the replys, I see what your saying with the Display settings DamienD. I'll try setting port 0 as the mouse then for the joystick issue as well

I manage to get my WinUAE too fill the whole screen in Full Screen mode by using the filter options and adjusting the sliders. I think the filter options are in the Display menu (one of the menu options near the bottom of the list when you press F12). Once I'd tweaked them to the right level I saved my config and robert-is-your-father's-brother!
I'm sure I had to configure the jostick in WinUAE to get it to work the first time I set up WinUAE. |

Just a correction it is 640x256 not 640x512. 640x512 is interlaced.

yes but he is correct in the sense that when using non-interlaced, winuae doubles the pixels (to show correct aspect), so still needs x512
