Although it is no longer available for download, it is still being updated , sorry to all who requested it, but it cannot be distributed at this time.

AROS One 68k, unlike other AROS 68k distributions, includes the entirely native AROS 68k core, no Amiga library or system files are present.

In the future when it is available for download, users who like old Amiga applications will have to manually integrate libraries or other necessary Amiga software.

At the moment AROS One has had many updates, from the new Core to the many new Amiga applications supported by AROS 68k that have been distributed in recent years.

Rebuilt a new version of AROS One 68k, the old version was no longer compatible with the new Aros68k ROMs.

This new version does not include any library or Amiga software, it will be the user who integrates the Amiga software into his private copy.

The user will be able to request the AROS One style icons for the Amiga software he will integrate in his AROS One, of course he will also be able to use the icons installed on the AROS One x86.

Hi

Thanks for your hard work in Amiga projects, I really appreciate it.

I downloaded Aros68k but could not find any info about WinUAE win10 settings for :

RTG memory size, settings
Hard drive size, filesystem
miscellaneous expansion settings.
eg do i need bsocket,

I could not find any winuae config settings.

I hope you could assist me.

thanks.

I downloaded the files from here :
https://aros.sourceforge.io/nightly1.php

amiga-m68k-boot-iso + contrib

i Have 4 GB Nvidia GPU, use winuae internet + RTG.

Ciao asymetrix, starting AROS One is very simple, basically you have to set an A4000 RTG to full power in WinUAE:

- ROM (for the new Build you have to use the 2 ROMs (aros-rom.bin and aros-ext.bin) found inthe ISO in the path Boot/Amiga/
- A4000
- CPU 060
- JIT
- RAM 1GB
- UAE Zorro III (VRAM 512 MB)
- SFS HardFile Filesystem (Recommended)

You can avoid doing an installation, you can create a HardFile in SFS, and then copy the content of the ISO everything to the new HardFile

As soon as you start the Nightly Build you have to set the resolution to 1024x768 (optimal), use WinUAE in window mode, this way you can drag folders or files (not executable) from the Windows Desktop to the AROS Workbench (Wanderer).

I enclose my WinUAE config file ready to run your Nightly Build

N.B = you will be able to use the same cnfiguration for AROs One 68k when it becomes available!

cheers, AMIGASYSTEM, the config file is very useful.

I going through the config and taking notes.

The config in post #189 includes a hdf, but i dont have access to that.

To keep things consistant, i prefer to copy the iso files to a folder and mount it.
You are recommending to create a hard drive, a hdf.

To create a similar hard drive i need the drive geometry sizes.
For example. if the setup is 2 seperate drives, we need 2 sets of drive geometries.

or i create one hdf that can hold workbench only
or create partitions in workbench then copy files within Amiga environment, then format specific fs ?

Further clarification and recommended practice would be great.

My use would be to a little coding, so my use may not be just casual light footprint, but light-footprint + devtools.

cheers, asaf

The HDF set in my config and my HardFile of AROS One 68k which is currently not distributable.

In any case I have created you a 500 MB HardFile in SFS (2 partitions) with the "Nightly Build" installed, i attach a zip file.

https://eab.abime.net/zone/NightlyBu...FS-Aros68k.zip

Of course the "Nightly Build" does not include anything from my Aros One, just a clean AROS 68k system.
Of course it's a stable system, but it still needs work to make it more usable, the developers are working on it daily.

On this system, if you want to run OS 3.1 (no 3.9) software, you may need to install libraries, devices or anything else from OS3.1.

AROS includes Zune (MUI), but in some cases to run MUI applications, you will also need to integrate native OS3 MUI libraries.

IF you prefer to create a larger HardFile in SFS, as mentioned it is better to create it on OS3, creating it on AROS 68k is complicated to do with InstallAROS on WinUAE

@Amigasystem

Love your work. I'm running the x86 version on an old laptop.

I see you advocate running the m68k version on WinUAE and I see the requirements are for 1Gb RAM, 060, etc. Is the RAM requirement a minimum and would it be possible to run it on a real Amiga with Pistorm?

No I absolutely recommended that configuration so that applications and games that require large amounts of RAM could run fast.

In reality, much less power is needed to run AROS 68k:

- ROM (for the new Build you have to use the 2 ROMs (aros-rom.bin and aros-ext.bin) found inthe ISO in the path Boot/Amiga/

Minimum requirements:

- A4000
- CPU 040
- JIT
- Fast Ram 8MB
- UAE Zorro III (VRAM 16 MB)
- SFS HardFile Filesystem (Recommended)

I don't know the otence of the "Pistorm", but I believe it can boot AROS 68k, perhaps by lightening it by removing the theme and Icons PNG.

Of course you'll need to add commands in the Startup-sequence for hardware recognition of the Pistorm, plus you'll need to copy libraries, devices and Driver Monitor to AROS 68k.

I can give you a hand, but I'd need to look at a system that boots correctly on a Pistorm.

@AMIGASYSTEM

Thanks for coming back to me so quickly.

I have an A500 with PiStorm but I'm just about to replace the CPU socket, so I'll come back to you on this once the job is done.

Great work, please keep it up

Do you mind sharing the working roms, those that I extract from the latest build doesn't work on my system.

pixie, for each AROS 68k Distribution, the correct ROM can be found in the same Distribution Boot/Amiga folder.

New ROMs only work with New Builds

I download the latest nightly build, pick the roms from the CD and it doesn't work. Obviously I am doing something wrong, but I don't know what, so if i could get something I know to be working it would be of great help.

In one of your posts in ArosWorld regarding aros one 68k you touch some of those issues.

PS- I eventually got it to work, I copied from within uae... I don't know what it was happening, perhaps it was getting aros rom by default, I have no idea, but now it is working

Nightly builds always include the most recent ROM, which in many cases because of the ahupdate of the CORE cannot work on older Builds.

As mentioned the "most compatible ROM" is found inside each Build or Distribution.

If you want I can attach all the ROMs I have (there are many), but it makes no sense to use old Builds, when there have been so many updates and fixes on the new ones.

Eventually I can update AROS One, but it will be totally AROS 68k native, no OS3 files or library will be included

As you said there would have no sense mixing builds, but the latest build wasn't working so one has to start somewhere. The same archive who was having issues now works, I am happy again!

I hope you release the aros one 68k one day, without Workbench components the better!

Hi Carlo,

not all Aros-Roms from the newer builds are always working correctly, but ok, I didn't test the latest updates since September 2023.

At that time there was somebody asking at A1k.org how he could get ApolloOS 9.4 running on WinUAE. But some Aros-Roms from 2023 just crashed during system boot with a Line-F error. With some older Roms ApolloOS was booting up fine. So, at least sometimes, these Aros Roms may have new bugs and you have to try out other versions.
