Speed Link - "Amiga Classix Diamond" CD free download, Kickstarts included
Just noticed this link from Forum64. Speed Link offers the probably "not so legal" Magnussoft CD with Amiga games and Kickstart 1.3 (surely overdumped as it's 512KB)/Kickstart 3.0.
Against the EAB rules in this case? I don't know, really. Can't see any authorisation for a free download with all this copyrighted stuff. For the retail CD you could imply that they pay a few cent to A.... [Link removed - Graham] Last edited by Graham Humphrey; 17 July 2009 at 07:49. |

Hmm, interesting find Retro. I'm quite sure that it still isn't legal (and very interested to see what Cloanto will do), but since it's an official site and the download is free I see the point.

SL-6603 is the part number on the CD which came with my Amiga Classix Diamond Edition + Competition Pro USB Joystick.
I'm downloading the zip file now to see if the content is actually the same as that disc... |

Dunno if the ROM images are packaged somehow so they can only be used for this product, but amigakit sells them. So I'm sure it's above board and cloanto is happy.

Yep, the zip file download contains a folder with the same files as are on the CD which came with my Amiga Classix Diamond Edition + Competition Pro USB Joystick.
The PDFs contain a copy of the Competition Pro USB Quick Install Guide and the list of all the 185 Amiga classic games. That's pretty good support. Full backup software and docs for free download. |

I support any free downloads of kickstart roms. Official (surely some day) or made by an accident.

Presumably, Speedlink have a licence to distribute the software, including the games and ROMs. And allowing free download of said software is only one method of distribution, after all!

Interesting find... both 1.3 and 3.0 ROMs included, and it works WITHOUT the joystick... I'm guessing that this is an error on Speed Links part..
Also noticed that the ROMs are not the same as the Amiga Forever ones - they don't have the ROM.key with them! |

Is this a download available originally for those that have bought the joystick but they've just not thought about it properly?

Speed Link removed the link as it seems. So time to close this thread imo.

Maybe limited edition offer or something? *shrugs*
Glad I managed to grab it while it was still up anyhow. Didn't even have the Diamond edition before so it's a worthwhile add to my little Classix collection. |
