ACA620 configuration question
Hi guys,
I recently purchased a ACA620 card for my A-600, but didn't have time to install it, yet. (this damn moving to another location uses up too much time ) Currently I use a kickswitcher with a Kick 1.3 and Kick 2.05 chip. Normally, when booting from CF (e.g. for WHDLoad games etc.), I use the 2.05, but somtimes I need to boot from 1.3 to get some old stuff from disk running on the A-600. Now, my idea would be to get rid of the kickswitcher once I have the ACA620 inside, and do this instead: - remove the kickswitcher and put a IDE patched Kick 1.3 into the Kick-socket instead, so that the A-600 can boot from CF card with the 1.3 rom reason: This way I can still boot disks with Kick 1.3 if needed - add an input question for maxmem option to startup-sequence reason: this way I can still stick to 5mb ram if I need to use the PCMCIA port, e.g. for transferring software via PCMCIA-CF adapter. Else I will just use maxmem to the full 11,8mb EDIT: I just realized PCMCIA support should be still active even with 11,8mb, just s-ram cards will not work, but I will not need them anyway, so I can forget the user input for maxmem, and always use maxmem instead. - add maprom option to startup sequence, and let kick 2.05 load from CF card into ACA620's memory reason: this way I will have Kick 2.05 instead of patched 1.3 when working from CF card, and it will also speed up things a bit on my A-600 when the kickrom is loaded from the ACA620's memory, right ? What do you guys think, would that be possible ? And would it make sense ? Thanks for your help! Last edited by Overdoc; 03 June 2014 at 17:04. |
