What is your favourite or best mod tracker program for windows? I'm using SkaleTracker at the moment but depending on the poll, I'll use the most used

There will probably be quite a few more trackers out there, so if a Mod could please add any that I have missed, cheers in advance

I guess you mean SkaleTracker I also use it right now, but only because FastTracker 2 only runs in DosBox and doesn't support VST plugins. It's a shame that SkaleTracker is stuck at version 0.8x and doesn't seem to be developed anymore

I must agree with you there mate! Sorry for the '-' in SkaleTracker but that's what it's named in my shortcut I'll have to change it.

All I,m after is the best, 'cause I would really like to use it, not that I can create music, for special sound effects 'n' stuff for one of my secret projects

I want the best, of the best, of the best

I use it since it was called FastTracker 3 If only it had a decent sample editor and volume scale for tracks/ranges

Just downloaded the Demo version, looks quite cool mate! When I have more time I'll take a closer look and check the manual out too. So far it looks like it's the best one I've seen for ages.

As it's still being developed, it looks like it's the tool to use and at only 44.08 GBP or 49.99 Euro it looks like a bargain. All updates after buying it and registration are free and looks like for a lifetime too or until it's discontinued

Nice one TCD

Best tracker on Windows:

Well I must point out that Renoise is the most complete modern tracker today.
But for me FastTracker 2 was awesome and ModPlug was very usable too. This is how far my expreriences with PC trackers go.

Hi all. We should add Med Soundstudio (which I love on PC although it is rather unstable and not as good as Amiga one) and AXS which is a freebie nowadays and is excellent, has a virtual synth combined with a tracker, definitely one worth trying if you haven't already. Jon

Back in the days when I was very proud of my own 486DX machine I used FastTracker2 quite a lot. I'm about to move into my new home and after that I'm really want to take up tracking again... ReNoise, SkaleTracker and MilkyTracker all looked very the last time I checked it out but I guess ReNoise get's more development. The other 'textmode' trackers I never liked!

Could a Mod add 'MED Sound Studio' to the poll please ( forgot about this one, I used it before I got SkaleTracker)

Thanks in advance

Just discovered Renoise is really good but alas like many others, has problems replicating all the special sound effects that were implemented within the Amiga trackers. Just tested it on Kefrens 'Desert Dream' intro mod (good one to use) and found out that it is missing trailing sounds and skipping sounds due to the speed at which they are used

On the otherhand, SkaleTracker plays 'Desert Dream' intro mod perfectly + I have not found anything it has trouble with, yet!

Still for what I want it for, Renoise will do fine + I think the look is awesome and the extra bells 'n' whistles will come in handy, when I find out what they all are

For playing old mods ReNoise isn't really suited, but for making new sounds it's the tracker of choice I really hope they will continue to develop SkaleTracker, because it combines both 'worlds' There are still a lot of features missing in SkaleTracker (even for basic mod editing), so it's a long road to go

Woops, I accidentally voted for Octamed (I thought it was asked for Amiga) but for windows it's currently definitely Renoise due to the expandability with VST's and the like.

For compatibility I'd go for Fasttracker II. In combination with the open source solution DosBOX it still works like a dream after all those years.

But only since the 0.7x versions of DosBox. In 0.65 it was a pain in the ass

Maybe a kind Mod could change your vote from MED Sound Studio to ReNoise, that way I can really count your vote
