IK+ is kind of strange but it;s on the same mould of a one-on-one beat'em up.

Yes Zark, most genres could be splitted into a myriad of subgenres! Saying just "Beat'em Up" or, even worse, "Shoot'em Up" is way too generic.

The Shmup genre has so many variations... I think it is the most subcategorized gaming genre I've ever seen!

Yay! Panza's in the list! & B:PoF. I can stop sulking now

Voted for Panza, coz it's one of the very few "reality" beat-em-ups, the range of moves is huge (& customiseable), training well improves your boxer, the levels of competition are nicley judged and you'll do damned well to beat Panza. OK, the GFX and sound could be better, but there good enough.

But more than this, with two joysticks it's an intense two player gladatorial combat and the feeling of victory is one of the best around, and better than most of the other beat-em-ups I've played.

IK+ has the best playability, but i like Panza Kickboxing, Chambers of Shaolin and maybe Shadow Fighter.

Chambers of Shaolin for me It's different (like so many Amiga games ) and that's why I choose it. I really like the 'interactive' character generation

Hard question!!! I vote for "Mortal Kombat II", as MK I & II were really fun to play with friends and my nephews as they were kids, but IK+ is really nice to play alone. Even the very Italian games like Fighting Spirits and Shadow Fighter were funny (expecially Shadow Fighter: to enable cheats you had to type some message in Sicilian dialect!). I found funny Body Blows series too, expecially Ultimate BB 'cause there were a lot of characters, and Rise of the Robots for the stunning graphics!

I settled on Shadow Fighter in the end, though IK+ and Fighting Spirit aren't far behind. Let's face it though, beat-em-ups have never really been the Amiga's strong point.

Shadow Fighter. It's Street Fighter II for the Amiga, it's got a huge range of characters with a lovely variety of moves, pretty graphics, catchy music, and fun combos.

It took game makers years to finally make a beat em' up on the Amiga that actually worked, and could compete with console and arcade fighting games. But Shadow Fighter was worth the wait.

1. Elfmania cause i played it a bit for a while and liked it (but very frustrating)
2. IK+ lots of fun, easy to play! makes a good competition
3. Capital Punishment because it was brutal and had very nice graphics!

I voted Panza but shadow fighter is probably the best homage to a console fighter that the Amiga ever got

Somewhat predictably IK+ out in front by miles and so obviously people will be able to point out how to pull out a block? how is this even possible, the guy only ever puts his hand up like some sort of gesture as it certainly doesn't block

IK+ is fun but you absolutely cannot block without being kicked in the face as well

Actually Exploding fist for C64 is quite the superior game in that strategy plays a greater part with 2 skilled players - blocking here is essential and without it the whole thing would be dull frankly

I really like the blocking in the sword fighting part of pirates.

Chambers of shaolin is good so i voted for it. Budokan - too many moves and the waiting for your chi to build up was no good.

I can't believe 4 persons voted for Streetfighter 2, as a massive fan of the arcade original and it's near perfect 16 bit console conversions I cried myself to sleep after playing this horrible abortion on my beloved amiga

whilst personally i do find MK2 quite bareable, the only one of any genuine value is IK+.

i hate beat-em-ups as a rule of thumb, and the streetfighter series on all systems i find really tedious.

Looking forward to trying out that version of Exploding Fist though.

Then i advise you play the C64 of Exploding fist version as it's by far the most solid feeling of all versions. Also keep in mind that it's not all out like IK+ and requires blocking.2 player bouts require blocks for them to remain satistfying. Not all that hard on single play to be honest once you get good

speccy / c64 versions 'feel' pretty much the same imho.

for me, it's the music that keeps me coming back to the c64 version (and it's one of the only games i play on c64 rather than the speccy)

i still prefer IK+, but i like the gracefulness of Exploding Fist.

The speccy version of FIST+ isnt bad either.
