View by option in AmigaOS 3.1

Hello,

Is it possible to have a directory set to view-by-name and then a directory within this set to view-by-icon?

At the moment when I set a directory to view-by-name then all sub directories are also opened in view-by-name mode. Even if I set the sub-directory to view-by-icon and select snapshot-all, after I close everything and re-open the sub-directory is opened in view-by-name mode.

Is there a solution to this?

Snapshot Window would be the right one, Snapshot All is overkill.

But snapshot only works for directories with icons. So make sure that in the parent directory you do *not' have "show all files" enabled. If you can still see the icon (or the name for show-by-name) of the sub-directory, then you can snapshot its window. If the icon/name is only visible with "show all files", then you cannot snapshot it. Neither the icon position nor the window dimensions.

Using snapshot-window still doesn't work. I don't have show-all-files turned on. However a child drawer in my case never gets show-by-icon if the parent is show-by-name!

So if I have a drawer "A" which has child drawers "B" and "C". If "A" is set up to view-by-name then "B" and "C" are also view-by-name. Even if I go to "B" and I set this to view-by-icon when I close "B" without closing "A" it still set as view-by-icon, but if I close both "A" and "B", when I open "B" (after open "A") this is view-by-name!

What I would like is to have "A" view-by-name and "B" view-by-icon.

Ok I seem to have found a trick.

I have to set "A" to view-by-icon, then open "B" and set to view-by-icon, snapshot-window and then I can go to "A" again and set it to view-by-name.

From what I can see the snapshot-window (or snapshot-all) doesn't work on a child drawer when the parent drawer is set to view-by-name.

Is this a known issue?
Could this be related to BetterWB?
