Source code of Arcades games!!!

Insane!
There’s also 8bit games, MSDOS games, etc not only games so I guess they’ll be removed.

Might be a good idea to download them all before anyone ask them to be removed…

A better port of SmashTV would be neat. The one we got was quite poor.

@joyd I guess it’s because the other one has been put in read only and people want to contribute, I’ve seen some commits.

I was always wondering what a Sierra adventure game looked like under the hood. It's practically C code.

Of course, in my opinion they wrote with fast portability in mind and recompile for every system with minimal rework - as visible in the graphic assets, seemingly just ported and color reduced as sloppy as possible from VGA and nothing more

Congrats and injecting as much negativity into that as possible. I take the opposite stance, its quite impressive how they managed to make it that portable.

@gimbal

So would it be safe to say that Sierra got a C in school?

Well, have a bit of a grudge on them dropping Amiga before AGA and not porting the first Gabriel Knight; however i simply dislike that way of producing games very similar to a mass production chain; i think at Sierra, Accolade and other companies working that way...

also Lucasfilm. Port the engine => done. There were several versions of the interpreters, but I think they were just following the latest source. Not hard when you did the first port supporting audio / gfx / input.

Clever way to port games easily, but of course none of the specificities of the miggy were really used. No dynamic palettes, no copper tricks... I read (here) that Sierra didn't bother to go 32 colors, they just used 16 colors from Atari ST/EGA graphics. Too bad that they haven't ported their engine for AGA... Well there's SCUMMVM but it's probably slower than the real engine.

The visuals of Monkey Island look like 32 colors in comparison (I haven't counted the colors)

Imagine a Monkey Island or an Indiana Jones 4 with a similar dynamic palette as Universe ^_______^

Last Sierra games on the Amiga were released in 1994 (King Quest VI and Sierra Soccer), so they didn't drop Amiga before AGA even if, indeed, they wanted to drop the Amiga around 1993, before being convinced by Revolution Software to make a KQVI adaptation

That said, King Quest VI was due to be released in AGA but it was dropped because the ECS version was considered enough satisfactory by Sierra thanks to the work of Revolution Software. (The exact same story happened to their version of Beneath a Steel Sky. AGA was also dropped, by Virgin that time).

I wonder if there’s an equivalent of the HRM for those arcades machines, anyone know?

We must get a port of Sinistar! A game RJ helped make a reality for arcades.

Am in fact surprised that almost no incarnation of it are present...
