*HUGE* progresses i see from both of you. This extra info just confirms what i just posted in the tosecdev forum.
Previously, tons of sets were added (different versions of the same games). Due to the lack of knowledge/interest or pure laziness in some cases, these sets were just marked from [a] to [aInfinity]. Hopefully you guys can keep that awesome work and sort all this out (maybe not even just in Games ADF but continuing to different Amiga dats... and even other systems if you like! ). Crashdisk please document your efforts/tools and if possible make them available one day to others, just in case you disappear If you want space / posting privileges in our main page or just being able to upload tools there just ask. Although i'm not into Amiga i find this bits of information really interesting to read |

Just out of curiosity, what is the highest numbering that an alternative set received? (On Amiga and/or other platforms if the Amiga is not the record holder)

@Crashdisk:
Please explain this "DOS copy" subject. I suppose its, when disk-copying a NDOS-disk via Workbench menu or c cli command, we get a non-working copy or similar. |

Crashdisk already answered but here are more stats. Take it with a grain o salt as many systems are in pretty bad shape (really awful renaming). Many of these counters will change when proper renaming is done. Hope to see progresses for this in Amiga.
A small example of this is SNES and it is not even related with alts (but i guess someone could just had renamed them all with [a] too. It has the highest counter of dump flags with a [h271] for Super Mario Brothers or something. Instead of properly identifying the sets someone just added all hacks (from simple small changes to really complete hacks making an almost different game) with "Super Mario Brothers (19xx)(Nintendo)[hCounter]" Highest alt counters by system: Code:

@PandMonium
You are a stats master? ^^ @mai if you use diskcopy (WB tool) with a NoDOS disk, after copying the program updates the sector 880/rootblock (sector checksum, filesystem creation and last disk alteration date). Problem, nodos disks do not have rootblock... Damages and the consequences are unpredictable (28 bytes overwritten on average) but in any case they can be considered as baddump.... For all disks above errors are types DiskCopy WB 2.1+ but have been caused with another tool. Last edited by Crashdisk; 04 October 2012 at 16:38. |

No wonder some people are fans of the No-intro sets rather than the Goodxxx and TOSEC sets.
271 Mario hacks with no even the slighest description of what the hack is would probably be a paradise for Mario fans but not for sane people |

Ok, had a quick test.
Using Apprentice (1990)(Rainbow Arts)[cr SR - Valhalla][t +1 SR - Valhalla][a2].adf causes sound corruption after loading from track 40(DOSdisk=Rootblock). Using Apprentice (1990)(Rainbow Arts)[cr SR - Valhalla][t +1 SR - Valhalla] sound is fine after loading track 40. Very useful your tool then. Have never thought, if using wrong diskcopy program causes disk corruption. Althought it is possible, that this disk corruption sometimes is not noticable when playing the game, we can mark this disks as bad(b diskcopy is suitable). @Crashdisk: i'm trying to! :P
@lilalurl They have distinct goals. No-intro and similar projects are a great way for people to have the best collection (best existent dumps) of a system. TOSEC goal is much more similar to an encyclopedia documenting the history of systems and software. Many people care not only about originals but also about hacks, scene releases, demos and many other sets that can't be found as originally released, plus being able to recognize and split good from unplayable and broken disks. Still, there are many users who tend to collect everything anyway (and i mean really everything). TOSEC is still far away from what we intent it to be, ideally it should also be possible / available to get information of which are the best sets from our data in addition to the full content - which is what is provided atm |

Thank you for support.
I have also checked, if another reported "doscopy" causes any visible error when playing the game. 'Allo 'Allo! Cartoon Fun! (1993)(Alternative)(Disk 1 of 2)[cr CSL][a] 'Allo 'Allo! Cartoon Fun! (1993)(Alternative)(Disk 2 of 2)[cr CSL][a] Indeed, this time you get sprite corruption |
