Help with Blizzard 1230 MK IV EPROM content

Hello All,

Can anyone could send me dump of 27C256 EPROM found on Blizzard 1230 MK IV?
I have two defective turbo boards here and one of them is booting, but no FAST RAM visible under system...
So I suspect that something is wrong with EPROM.
I've made EPROM dump, and EPROM is almost empty, no code after 0xB01..
Is that normal?

Any help is welcome!

Many thanks Cosmos!

It seems that my file and file I've got from you are identical:
I will continue to search the defect.

@Statchu

Unfortunately my friend, the RAM is not controlled or even poked by the EPROM.

All the EPROM contains is essentially an ADDRAM command that is fed the value by the CPLD's (GALS)

have a lookie here (if you have not already)

U100 - RAS1
U200 - CFGI
U400 - CAS1

I suspect the failure will be in tasking the addmem command in EPROM, if this is not happening then CFGI could be at fault - as to its contents... I am afraid, GAL equations are not my strong point =(

anyway I do hope that ramble helps

@cosmos

Indeed, that's what I suspected =(

Well DCE/Phase5 are known for not having any of the old code for thier equipment

so for fits and giggles, you could try and Addram the blizzard memory from workbench =)

you will need to know the location offset, alas I dont have that at the top of my head but it will be outside the 24bit addressing barrier - Cosmos will know =)

@Cosmos, Zetr0,
Thanks for help!
I did what I did because it was easiest what I could do.
Second: RAM is also not visible when Blizzard 1230 is working without EPROM onboard.
Third: EPROM is almost empty (waste of space and money). But I suspect that PLCC variant of 27C256 was used as "standard" part just to do not keep too many EPROM types in factory warehouse.

GAL chips are locked as Cosmos said - so even if one of them will be faulty it will be very bad sign...

Hopefully I have two defective Blizzard 1230 MK IV boards, so I will start to swap GAL's from one board to another to detect which one is faulty. Hope that it's not the same GAL broken on both boards (fingers crossed).
