Is NBL the full game? No promises but I'll see what I can do over the weekend, unless someone beats me to it of course

I got a couple of hours work in on NBL last night. The disk imager and trackloader replacement work (spent ages staring at a stupid bug and not seeing it grrr [hate that]), first loader screen works (a few copper problems), second loader screen still has blitter and keyboard problems. The code isn't too bad so far, except it does jump around a lot so it can be a bit tricky to follow. Work continues...

If anyone fancies knocking up an icon or two I'll include them in the install. I usually do NewIcons as 90px wide, 64 colours and ColorIcons as 120px wide and 256 colours. No rush

Some small progress to report as I've suddenly become very busy for no good reasons over the past couple of weeks :angry

The game now starts from WHDLoad and you can play the first level. The disk swap isn't patched so it won't load anything from disk 2 and I need to do trainers next so I can actually reach the stage where it requires disk 2

I've also identified where the high score table lives so I can add high score saving later.

The game itself seems pretty well programmed, it was just the loader screens that caused problems! I guess they were knocked up quickly and tacked on after the game was done

OK patchfans, we're getting there

This one is a bugger. There are around 9 parts that all load in separately and all need patched up separately each time they load, but sort-of-fortunately they don't need much patching once they are loaded.

The imager works for both disks and the slave now copes with disk swaps by the game.

The game works on my A1200-060 with no SnoopOCS hits right up to the final "wizard battle" level. I got a hit on this level but I think it's to do with how I'm fast-skipping the game parts to get to the final battle quickly - it needs more investigation but I'm sure it's not a real problem. I haven't got past the wizard yet so I don't know what comes after that - probably another part that needs patched

Trainers for infinite lives, infinite energy, infinite time and "I'll buy that for $1!" shop are all working in the main game, infinite lives and time on the jigsaw level and infinite lives and energy on the wizard level.

High score saving is in. I'm pretty sure it works but it needs more testing.

The remaining work on the slave itself is mainly tidying up and checking everything works as expected. I've found some common problems with keyboard reading in a couple of the parts so I do need to go back and check all the other parts for the same sort of thing.

After that it's icon time and a beta version should appear in the Zone for your testing pleasure

Thumbs up You lot owe me a beer for this one, I'm ill you know ;)

Tiredly presenting...
No Buddies Land WHD 1.00 BETA 1
(ta-daaa!)
...in a Zone near you, Real Soon Now.

Featuring:
- fixed copperlists
- fixed blitter waits
- fixed keyboard handlers
- bugfixed sound code
- bugfixed memory corruption
- quit at all stages, even on 68000
- snazzy NewIcon

And for registered WHDLoad users:
- high scores saved / loaded from hard disk
- optionally skip intro screens
- infinite lives
- infinite energy
- infinite time
- "everything is $1" shop
- choose start level
- configurable skip level hotkey

Requires:
WHDLoad 16.0+ (tested on 16.7 and 16.8beta)
0.5Mb chipram + 0.5Mb other mem.
2Mb other mem recommended for best performance.

Notes:
CUSTOM1 controls the trainers; add the values to combine options as usual: 1 = infinite lives, 2 = infinite energy, 4 = infinite time, 8 = cheap shop, 128 = skip intro screens.

CUSTOM2 sets the start level 1-5.

CUSTOM3 sets the skip level hotkey. The default key is F1. Note that this doesn't work on the final battle.

You can also set the start level by typing MARIELLE WANTS A SIMPLE GAME on the title picture screen (flashes white if you get it right) then pressing 1-5 number keys. You will find out who Marielle is if you complete the game

This is a limited release Beta 1 for testing purposes. It works without problems on my A1200 060-50Mhz + Mediator, though I think there is some self modifying nastiness left in the music replayer code. Let me know of any problems via this thread. Your support is appreciated
