New source for Amiga Disk Images
First of all can I just say hello to everyone here. I have been a guest for many years and now that I feel I can offer something in return have decided to register and post. I just wanted to let all my fellow Amiga fans know that as part of my own efforts to preserve all the old Amiga software, I have now finished a year long project to make available for download just about every Amiga rom that I have found over the past few years. Much thanks must go to the dozens of people that sent me their collections and support. The database, which is available for download contains over 40,000 disk images, a total of 35GB and is spread over the following sections :- Applications A to Z Compliations Cover Disks Disk Mags Docs Educational Games A to Z Operating Systems Pack Mags Public Domain Collections The Amiga section is contained within the main Commodore Roms section which also holds a huge C64, Vic20, Plus4 and MAX rom library. You can visit the Commodore Amiga Roms Database by clicking the link. Downloading is free though speed is limited to help me cope with bandwidth cost limitations. If you donate a little I can make it unlimited. Some other info : I bought my first Amiga 500 in 1997 from the US and shipped it to the UK as one of the very first A500's in the country. I was involved in the 'scene' during the main years mostly as a spreader but also as an artist. My own group was called Icrus, I was also involved in the creation of 'The Untouchables Utility Disk'. I have loved and used Amiga's since their launch, I now own just about every model of Amiga apart from the 3500. Thank you for reading this, please move or re-copy this topic if you feel it is incorrectly placed. This is not intended as spam or simply to advertise my website, I am a very serious Amiga fan and I feel that this collection of Amiga roms should be available to all fans. Sorry, but you'd have to remove that content if you want to put the link to the site here. |

Having read SPS website, can you explain why an SPS image is not allowed but an ADF is?
Why do you not allow links to another site, if that site takes responsibility? |

I'm sure a global mod will discuss the why with you, but for now it would be cool if you could remove the links. Shows some good will on your side you see

Workbench images aren't allowed too. The second link leads to them.

I understood that Kickstart Roms were not allowed. I have had many conversations with Cloanto about this. I was not aware that anyone owned the rights to Workbench.

They should have mentioned that Workbench disks aren't free either. Anyway, the links will be removed and the thread closed. Maybe you should consider removing the content and post it again then

I am surprised by this response. The Amiga 'scene' was based on cracking, packing and spreading so it sounds very ironic that the fans should become so quick to deny a site that helps keep alive all the old images.
If you have to delete the post then so be it, I will not be changing my website until the owners ask me to. I have worked with Cloanto in the past and am happy to support them and work with them in the future. I will not be re-posting either. My website exisits for all those that wish to make use of it. It has been in operation since 1999 and already receives over 150,000 page views a day. It is there for all to use. |

Just to clarify:
Kickstart ROMs and Workbench disks are still copyrighted and are still sold so distribution is not allowed (essentially - anything still sold and supported is not allowed to be linked here). IPF images are not allowed either as part of the "deal" that SPS have "official" representatives on EAB. They have no part themselves in image distribution for legal reasons, is how I understand it - although there may be more to it than that. I'm sure the SPS guys can explain more and it's almost certainly been covered in the past. So yes, I'm afraid rules are rules and I have no choice but to remove the links unless the items are removed. |

Just so you get the idea that you aren't alone : http://eab.abime.net/showthread.php?t=51976
Still it's like that today and there so much more content that you should really think about removing those two subfolders. |

FFS give yourselves a shake! This navel gazing and preciousness about OLD OLD OLD kickstarts and WB images really fecks me off.
This new member has a stunning website that will be of huge use to newer members that haven't yet leached it all from across the web. |
