Amiga 1200 motherboard needs -12v power?

Hello,

I am thinking to use another power supply (more little one) for my Amiga 1200, but I cannot find anyone with -12v.

Someone knows if the Amiga 1200 motherboard uses the -12v power for anything?

I know that CD32 don't uses -12v.

Someone uses a little power supply for your Amiga 1200?

Thanks a lot!

Juan

The -12v is used for sound and some serial devices I think (mainly Paula chip sound and I/O), correct me if i'm wrong. On an AT or ATX PSU the -12v are on the blue Wire.

Hello Jaun & Welcome to EAB

Your A1200 does need a -12V supply for the Audio circuits to function correctly.

It's quite easy to modify an existing PC ATX PSU for use with all Amiga's

I recomend having a read through this following thread

http://eab.abime.net/showthread.php?t=41860

It gives a good explanation of the audio circuits & my good friend Zetro even includes schematics to wire an ATX supply just for the purposes you require.
You will also never run out of capacity should expand or add power hungry devices to your A1200.

Best of Luck

Send a message via ICQ to Chain
im sure there are some voltage regulators (one IC) which can convert symmetrical voltage from one non-symmetrical psu.

edit: something like this will do http://www.elektrosoucastky-ezk.cz/s...ly/vnd9m10.htm

Hi all!

Thanks for the info. The -12v is used!

I found a miniPSU called picoPSU:

http://www.mini-box.com/picoPSU-120-...8&category=981

It supports +12v / +5v / -12v

Someone uses it on your Amiga 1200 like power supply?

Could it work right as power supply for the Amiga?

Thanks

Juan
