Anyone remember LCD "handheld" games?
You can keep your Gameboy's,Lynx's etc. I want to know if there's anyone here who remember's growing up playing the original LCD handheld games. I believe Nintendo's series of these games were called "Game and Watch" or something.
Typically you had the easy "game A" & harder Game B levels. I remember games like Donkey Kong, Donkey Kong Jr., Snoopy Tennis (liked this one,I guess for the snoopy factor!), Octopus etc. A non nintendo title I had & remember well was Oil Panic. Never forget the first time I hit the turbo "bonus" mode after several hundred points & thought it'd buggered up! I did actually find an emulation supposedly of Snoopy tennis but alas It only caused Windows to crash-sigh! But who else here remembers crowding around your new sudden "best mates", when they'd acquired one of those classic handhelds at school & begging for a go?! (And being jealous of the rich gits who could afford a double screen game like Donkey Kong!) |

I still have a couple of Nintendo game & watches, Parachute and Snoopy Tennis, which still are great games IMHO. Octopus was another one I loved playing, but never owned.
If you want to relive a few memories of playing LCD handhelds though on your Amiga or using UAE, then grab a great little PD release called LCD Dreams. It should be in TOSEC. LCD Dreams also has a WHDLoad installer available here: http://home.wanadoo.nl/robertoh/l.html |

anyone remember those glasses type things, you put them to your eyes, and control the game from buttons on top (They were like binoculars!).
If I remember there were 3, White, Red and another colour (White was racing, red a flying, and the other a tank battle i think!) |

Its a great game. You control a tank and shoot down the flying things that look exactly like the ones in tron. |

And I had a fuckin' weird game by Tiger Electronics, you had to put up some virtual reality glasses which covered only one eye and saw the game sort of in a reflective window. You could even exchange the LCD-game using mini-cartridges. Kinda hard to explain that thing. I threw it away after getting some severe eye- and headache when playing... Yay for new technology and marketing =| |

Yep, I saw the TIGER thing... it looked damn strange and eyekilling though people say Virtualboys kill their eyes but I never had a problem with my VB. I guess it depends on ones eyes.
Only LCD game I have left is a Tiger/Konami METAL GEAR 2 Talkie LCD game. Quite new so it's pretty lame, not as good as the oldies |

I remember those days... those were really great fun games. I remember playing one where you had cement pouring down the left and right hand side of the screen. There was these platforms that would move up and down the middle and you had to release the cement to flow down to the cement truck at the bottom, it was real fun. Does anyone remember the name of that one?

Hehe I still have Donkey Kong, Pinball and Treasure Island. Sadly they all suffer from the same problem - a cracked black screen...(not very durable were they)
