Soundtracker disks on to hard drive?

Hi,

I have just got back in to the Amiga scene and bought myself an Amiga 1200 which has a hard drive installed.

I wrote lots of music back in the day and have loaded the mods on to the hard drive and as expected when i go to play them it can not find the samples so my question is:

Can I put the ST-XX disks on the hard drive in such a way that the program sees them and does not prompt me for the disk or will I just have to create a samples directory and copy the contents of the ST-XX disks to it and then edit every song and load the sample in from the new location and then save the MOD again?

Cheers

K

Yup, you want to create an assign. To tell the Amiga's OS that a device is actually a directory on your HD.

You use it something like this:
Code:
Assign ST-00: DH1:SoundTracker/ST-00/
of course you should replace 'DH1:SoundTracker/ST-00/' with whatever the ACTUAL name of your HD and ST-00 directory is.

Assign is a CLI command.
You could use RAmiga+E from WB to bring up a command requester.
OR, and this is the better option option.

You want to add the following code to the 'S:User-Startup' file.

Code:
;BEGIN SoundTracker setup
Assign >NIL: ST-00: DH1:SoundTracker/ST-00/
Assign >NIL: ST-01: DH1:SoundTracker/ST-01/
...(etc.)
;END SoundTracker setup
There are some programs like assignwedge which can do this more efficiently, but that should do it for you.
