Gods freezes on disk 2 loading screen on FS-UAE (via Launchbox)

Hello! New member here. Amiga fan since the early 90's. After many attempts, I finally got Amiga emulation to work via Launchbox. Which is great!

So I have tried several different ADF sets, but all have the same issue. Here is what happens. When the game asks me to insert disk 2, I do so by opening up the menu, scrolling down and selecting disk 2 after which the boot up process continues and all seems well. The screen says 'Loading level 1', and that's where it stops. It just hangs there.

Tried one set of ADF roms in WINUAE and no problems there. The game loads, I can play it.

In the screenshot you can see how set my 2 disks for Gods based on what I found on youtube. I do it like this instead of directly through Launchbox since I assume this is the only way for games that have more than 1 disk. I tried some other combinations also like leaving the media swap list area empty and placing ADF 1 and 2 directly into the 2 areas above. But to no avail.

Cant you just put disk 2 in the emulated DF1 which is second drive?

maybe the cracked version has some remainders of copylock which needs very accurate floppy emulation.

Copylock is accessed before that. After the intro is over, and it loads up the backdrop and has the green copper bar at the bottom, after a few disc accesses, is when the copylock is done and then isnt returned to again.

I did try that one as well. So disk 1 in the first field, disk 2 in the second.

In that case, it does not ask me to swap disks, assuming it automatically does this. Though the result is the same, freeze on the 'loading level 1' screen. And this version does work with WINUAE. So I suppose for that reason it couldn't be copyright version.

If anyone could give it a try on their FS-UAE version, I would appreciate it.

which kickstart are you using? there's a bug for kickstart 3.1 (game reads at a wrong location). It works for kickstart 1.3 and 3.0...

Just out of interest which cracked version are you using?

Crystal or Endless Piracy?

I use this set in my collection:
... Gods v1.00 (1991-03-28)(Renegade)(Disk 1 of 2)[cr CSL][t +2 Defjam].adf
... Gods v1.00 (1991-03-28)(Renegade)(Disk 2 of 2).adf
Gamebase Amiga uses the Flashtro cracked / trained version "Gods v1.00 (1991-03-28)(Renegade)(Disk 1 of 2)[cr Flashtro][t +58 Flashtro].adf" and the standard "Gods v1.00 (1991-03-28)(Renegade)(Disk 2 of 2).adf".

Yup that did it. I was using 3.1. Switched to 1.3 (which is what WINUAE used) and bam it works.

it's a very rare bug. Game happens to read ROM location by mistake. If it finds zero nothing happens (by sheer luck the location is 0 in all kickstarts 1.2, 1.3, 2.x, 3.0) but in 3.1 (and possibly AROS BTW) the value isn't 0 and that crashes the game.

Bert fixed that in the whdload slave since 1996
