author of magic workbench doesnt sell keys for magic workbench anymore.
you could still register mui from this author, but i really wouldn't do that.
no key registered to your name, you only get generic key with some name.

What do you want to do this for?
You can display MWB (and many many more) icons properly usint PeterK's icon.library
http://aminet.net/util/libs/IconLib_46.4.lha

What was the advantage of "registering" back then anyway? I couldn't find any information.

The mwb daemon and this thrilling animation every once in a while .

Admittedly the install changed most icons for you.

Cheers,

If memory serves me right there was some tool (MagicWB demon or something similar) in the MagicWB package to lock certain system palette entries so the icons would always look correct. This tool was only available in the registered version.

Edit: McTrinsic was faster.

Nowadays, though, the FullPalette prefs may suit your needs in combinations with the excellent icon.lib from PeterK.

Thanks for that guys. I guess it was mostly a "let's support the author" kinda thing, mostly.

Yeah, nowadays, FullPalette plus icon.library by PeterK is all you need.
Shame on me, I only knew about FullPalette recently!

i don't even know this icon.library. what is it about? what exactly do i need this library for?
as for me, on my amigaos 3.9 workbench i don't even have installed magicwb.
just used visualprefs to lock colors used by magicwb so such icons are displayed correctly.

//edit: obviously there's already icon.library 46.4.443 installed on my system in libs: folder.
came with something else, i assume?

How about you read the readme and/or the thread here on EAB about it?
http://eab.abime.net/showthread.php?t=64079

As to why you have it? No idea, you might have installed it at some point. Or if you are running something like "Amikit" or whatever.

You can also use FastIPrefs to lock the palette.

If I remember correctly FastIPrefs caused quite some system lockups when I used it years ago which is why I used FullPalette instead.

I assume you mean 46.4.443?

Best to ask PeterK, but the latest "stable" version is officially still 46.4.443. That said, his bleeding edge releases are generally not problematic.

FastIPrefs (I use it for a long time) might be a bit tricky because you can config it to crash your system. For example its NoMemPatch and wrong picture.datatype. And I`ve heard that notifyintuition.library can make problems. However, FullPalette is one of the must-haves IMO. With it you are free to lock each colour you like lock.

The advantage of the registered Version of MagicWB: it was/is a Fire-and-Forget-Installation. It locks the colours, brings some nice tools and the Installer does everythig for you. I'm glad that I registered it many years ago, as I even use it on OS3.9. I LOVE the MagicWB-design.

i didn't dare installing it on workbench 3.9 as i'm afraid of overwriting icons, system settings, etc.

A lot of posts but nobody comments that Keyring has the key if I'm not wrong.
