I know of some old CD32 models with 40.58 on it, but even Google is very stubborn with infos about 40.56.
Some dude from a 1995 usenet post claimed to have 40.56 on, but who knows what the actual kickstart was. Not all revisions of the command 'version' resp. the 'version.library' must necessarily be 100% correct in everything they output. If he dumped it and hex-edited the resulting file, this would maybe be a better proof then, with the revision date visible in clear ASCII output ... So does this version of KS 3.1 really exist, or better, does anyone have a real CD32 with which he can prove its existance at best? ![]() |

Yes, it does exist. I have a CD32 with that Kickstart, but it's broken...
![]() But 40.58 does not exist, at least not officially. The part number of 40.56 is 391640-02, the next one (391640-03) is already 40.60. So there's no room for something in between. |

![]() Those CD32s are scarce as hen's teeth. Well, maybe one of those will eventually show up on e-bay. Quote:
BTW, in case you're interested, there were some errata and illogicalnesses due to typos on Greg Donner's site regarding KS 3.1 / ROM component IDs. You may want to re-revise them as well, perhaps you have another (better?) details to support. At least the previously messed-up table now contains lots more plausible info, i. e. not 2 different version numbers with one and the same ROM ID ![]() |

Dump the kickstart first; then look for WindowsKillers "KickTools" to identify the ROM.
(I hope you will NOT identify it - this would mean it's indeed a new one ![]() |

Or open the case and look at the ROM.
