Decided to do something radical today...
...well it is Coronavirius time and people do crazy things
![]() My hair was getting way out of control, and no idea when I can next get a haircut. So I thought, well now is the time to see how I look bald. It's a number one all over, but might take to it with a razor now ![]() My mum's going to die when she sees these photos ![]() ![]() ![]() |

Well, I've been cutting my own hair for years now, just use the old WAHL trimmer and the adjustable comb and away I go.
I just keep it short all year round ![]() I also trim my beard at the same time so *I* don't look too much like SANTA ![]() Last edited by jmmijo; 19 January 2021 at 01:52. Reason: grammar error |

Jesus, Damien. You look 10 years older without your hair.

Don't want to be invadent, but i think DamienD did the right thing
![]() At least for me to cut hair is something mandatory ![]() I have few hair on the top of my head and a lot of white hair too ![]() So in the end it's an esthetic and practical choice ![]() |

I guess the difference here jmmijo is that I've always had hair... so going completely bald is quite a change.

My expanding bald spot was bothering me enough that about 2 years ago I made the decision. I would have done it earlier but my girlfriend had to be convinced that it would not be too weird that I would look different.
I'm never going back, hair is for suckers ![]() When I put on a hat which hides the bald head I see another clear change - then I lose the interest of younger people and gain interest from older people. Fascinating stuff. |

Interesting
![]() I have a receding hair line and an island of hair at the front, at the back there's a patch but none if this is bad enough yet for me to warrant being fully bald. Just thought I'd give this a go during Coronavirus, as it's the perfect time to experiment. |

Get a hat though, to anyone who is thinking to do the same. If you had hair for most of your life and then you expose your bald head to winter or summer weather... ouch. Hair has it's purpose, it reduces risk of skin cancer by quite a lot (the same for facial hair, by the by...).
I actually got one made out of Gore-tex so it is waterproof, living in a very wet country that was basically the best purchase of my entire life. |

I don't have a hair cutting machine and I don't want to shave my head completely because of all the scars from a wild childhood. It doesn't look good with my receding hair line, but I have quite long hair now. I couldn't get an appointment with my barber in december, everything was booked already and so it's been almost 2 months now since I had a hair cut. And maybe the lockdown will be until April and then I'll look very peculiar.

Started to lose my hair during my early 20's (unusual testosterone concentration in my blood, hereditary factors, both ?), tried a treatment which didn't work at all (Minoxidil based, your mileage may vary). Got a trimmer bought from a barber shop. Nowadays, I just go to the hairdresser (rather infrequently, about 3 times a year, when it should be 4 or 5). My hair around the bald scalp area is delicate and soft, almost like baby hair, it doesn't stick in place so I have it cut short. Auntie J. likes it better when it's not too short though. The hat was especially useful when I was in Greece, got moderate sunburns all over my forearms and the back of my hands, but managed to get a nice facial tan thanks to the hat (a neat looking western one).

I bought my own clippers a couple of years ago and after watching some YouTube videos had a go at doing it myself. The first few were a bit hit and miss, but I've finally got the hang of it and wouldn't go back to the barber. Definitely getting thinner on the crown now so a hat goes on when the sun comes out.
