PPaint crashes & problems with WinUAE

I've set-up PPaint 7.1 to use gfx card as follows (PPaint:PPaint_Prefs/Startup_1.set):
"BLITLIBS = "personal_agnus_blit.library", "personal_68040_blit.library", 1" and put in ENV: the variable PBlit_Chipmem "No".
This is the correct setup to use gfx memory instead of the AGA chipset and the limited chipmem accordingly with PPaint's manual.

Well, the prob is that PPaint shows these bugs with WUAE 1.6.0b24:
  • You can't draw "filled polygons" using the button placed over the usual "filler" button because PPaint's closed filled polygons will look empty! This can be caused by a bug in P96 libraries or Picasso emulation missin some DrawLines() routines... Setting up PPaint to use chipset blitter instead of gfx card the filled polygons are fully drawn instead.
  • WinUAE will crash after you load huge pics (1100x1500 and so...) and then for example you open the Project/Info panel. Attached the .mdp and log files of a crash. Reproduceable both in full-window and window mode.

Attached my "PPaint:PPaint_Prefs/Startup_1.set". You can download PPaint 1.7b from Aminet for free.
Attached Files
File Type: zip PPaint cfg.zip (2.3 KB, 174 views)
File Type: zip winuae_160b24_20090413_130441.zip (29.3 KB, 176 views)

Uploaded the image somewhere please. My random choice of image most likely won't crash as usual..

Here is it: http://www.2shared.com/file/5333877/...4_Gimenez.html

Mmmh... loading it from ram (usually I assign PICS: on the Amiga side to a mounted virtual volume in WinUAE that points to C:\Users\Hexaae\Pictures) doesn't crash! Just tested...

No, sorry, I was wrong: it randomly crashes also loading the pic in PPaint from RAM:Ara0644_Gimenez.JPG (AS*)

*Amiga side

http://www.winuae.net/files/b/winuae.zip should fix the crashing problem, please confirm.

Fill issue is most likely ppaint bug (or Picasso96 Amiga-side bug) because there is no accelerated linedraw or paint in Picasso96. Can't see any P96 native accelerated functions called during (invisible) paint.

I'd like to know if happens the same on real Amigas with a Picasso gfx card...

That was old bug, introduced when new faster picasso96 emulation was implemented, can only ("randomly") happen when picasso96 color depth is smaller than native mode.

I'll contact Cloanto about this issue.

Last thing about PPaint.... can you "Project/Show Image" (shift+S) to view the picture in full screen within PPaint? WB (not WUAE) always crashes with a DEADEND guru for me testing the big picture above. Just to understand if it's a PPaint bug with too big pics and unstable gfx card support...

After some testing I've found it crashes only when "Settings/Graphics/Amiga Blitter" is ON. PPaint bug.

There is also another annoying bug in PPaint 7.1: can't load files with very long (40+) file name. Since WB 3.9 it was possible to handle up to 109 chars* for file names.
PPaint 7.1 will fail to load pics with long names saying "The file does not exist".

If you could report to them also this little bug... I doubt they'll ever release a fix after all these years but who knows.

*as far as I can remember dos.library original limit was 32 chars...

PS
Found the answer for filename limits here: http://www.gregdonner.org/os35faq/di...eration.html#1

Some news:
I've found a workaround to make "filled polygons" (PPaint) work with P96 emulation.
Setting this option ON:

There is a problem though: PPaint's fonts in the menu and requesters will be trashed... P96/PPaint bug or emulation?

I get same menu corruption in my OS39 installation but AmiKit works fine.. I guess it must be some OS/RTG conflict/version mismatch or something..

(It can't be emulation problem because menu problem was identical with or without RTG blitter emulation)
