Another idealist that is 100% correct, and everyone else is dumb.

"I know it can be done" yet cannot do it yourself. Then how do you know it can be done? Dave down the pub/taco bell said so?

And for clarity, your first post comes across as you saying why have these dumbasses coding various UAE varients already done what you want.

Probably not your intention, but it's definately the end result.

Most of your other posts in this thread have also done nothing to change that opinion, rather enhance it.

As always, it's not what you ask, but how you ask it.

At least, that's what I think he's saying - though his profile hails from North America, I'm pretty certain that English is not his native language. He's certainly not very clear.

The problem as far as I can see is that if you remove the 68k emulation from WinUAE or FS-UAE you don't have a lot left - aside from custom chip emulation which would probably also have to go - you're just left with a framework that talks to a host OS transferring what the emulated Amiga wants to do to the drivers that constitute the video, sound and networking/peripheral devices.

As ideas go (assuming I'm right, which I might not be as he's pretty incomprehensible) it's not a bad one that someone unfamiliar with how emulation works might come up with, but it doesn't stand up to any sort of scrutiny.
Yeah it doesn't make sense. UAE is an Amiga emulator, not an operating system. So, remove the emulation part from the emulator and turn it into an operating system?

Even if it were possible, what would be the purpose of such a Frankenstein setup? If you want to recreate everything in FPGA, there are products like MiST, MiSTer, FPGA Replay etc.

If you want modern connectivity for your actual Amiga, there are tons of expansions to give you USB, DVI etc.

If you want a minimal setup that boots directly into an emulator, Linux is fine and probably more efficient than anything a few hobbyist developers could come up with in their spare time - With Amilator, Amibian etc. Linux mostly stays out of the way so you can pretend you have an "Amiga".

Custom chips in fpga, gfx/sound etc from Amigaside drivers. Not much left to emulate, put the rest into the fpga too
Could work as pci card on x86 boards lol
