makecd - audio cd out of mp3?

or do mp3s have to be converted to some other format?

is it possible ripping audio cd making mp3 in amigaos?

MakeCD can support MP3 through mpega.library. I've used SecondSpin in the past for cd to mp3 encoding.

thx, have mpega.library installed. is there any tutorial about how i can make audiocd from mp3?
and a tutorial for installation of secondspin and lame as well? seems to be complicated, i read.

Been quite a while since I did this, but I think you just add the MP3 files as audio tracks. As I recall, I could only get this to work with the older mpega.library. The newer libmad-based mpega.library didn't work for me.

Not sure. Give it a try! Use SnoopDos to see which one MakeCD is opening.

Not sure about this. Are you sure the track type settings are correct (i.e., it's set as an audio track)? I don't think there should be anything relating to an ISO image for an audio CD.

Using the warpup version of mpega.library, I could burn mp3's as audio cds on the fly using MakeCD. I think I used to burn at 6x on my 8x scsi device connected to A4000T's scsi port. Don't remember if it was the scsi bus limiting the speed or cpu not being fast enough to convert mp3 to cd audio.

Using the 68k version of mpega.library (or was it lame?) will probably require you to convert mp3s to aiff or wav before the burning process starts.

If you have mpega.library installed and working, you just can drag&drop mp3 files from Workbench (or DOopus etc) to the tracks list in the main window of MakeCD.

The Play button can be used if you want to make sure mp3 is decoded correctly.

Basically you just could hit the "Write tracks" button then, but if you want to burn with DAO instead of TAO, you could check Advanced Options.

I don't think there was much more to do... used to burn several audio cd:s on my 060 Amiga back then. Or if your machine isn't beefy enough for on the fly decoding, you could try to use image files in Track Options -> Target... maybe it would decode mp3 to some raw audio data first? Can't remember for sure.

thx, this drag and drop worked. the other solution (track options - target) i tried yesterday, didn't work.
i just burnt my first cd using mp3 as source. but there seems to be more tweaking to be done i assume.
tracks are playing, but there are ugly and LOUD audio glitches and missing seconds in music playback.
drive/makecd can't be the problem, i assume. because i copied >50 audio cds last week without problem.
they all work without any glitches or missing seconds. so probably the problem located at mp3 transfer.

Are you sure your CD burner supports BURN-Proof operation? It sounds like the writing is corrupted, possibly because it can't write and decode in real-time quickly enough. Decoding MP3s is far more processor-orientated than copying raw data, and it's likely you can't go any more than 1x write speed if you're doing it on the fly - and that's with an 060.

Yes I agree I managed burning CDs with a Blizzard 030 on my A1200 and had to muck around with the buffer settings as I recall to get consistent burns and the were good if I say it my self in the late 90s. MakeCD is a nice amiga app

It was on on an old setup many years ago, but I have images of all my systems I will try and dig out and see if I can find the settings

In old times audio cd:s were recommended to be burned in 1x in any case for the best results...

Also if you want the best possible quality, you could use FPU version of the mpega.library (if you have FPU in your machine). It's slightly slower than the standard integer version, but provides more accurate decoding which might be wanted for this kind of stuff.
