68060 on A2000 NMI Autovec crashes
I have an A2000 with a P5 A2060 68060 board on it and most demos I load and many games need NOAUTOVEC added to keep from crashing out. Is this normal?
I just upgraded to latest 68060.library from P5 site, still no luck. 3.1 ROMS NTSC 1MB CHIP, 128MB FAST. Other cards in system: ASDG dual serial Picasso II X-Surf I am running these demos with AmiTCP *not* running. I know with it is running there can be probs. I always stopnet if I've startnet'ed earlier. Normal? Thanks. bp |

it isn't normal for the '60, still I don't know if it is usual for the A2060...
does it also happen with the ASDG removed? |

Hmm. I am considering selling this lot and going for a classic wedge A1200 with that new, white 030 42MHz with the fast 64MB RAM bus. Would this typically be more stable for WHDLoad games and demos than the A2000 ECS '060?
I want AGA demos, so that's another win for the A1200 move. Though...the way people talk, you'd expect every A1200 motherboard to be dead from leaky caps by now. I have many old machines, never had a caps issue once. Were the A1200s that badly made? I hear A4000s are worse. Not to drift from topic too far... bp |

i wouldnt say the machines where that badly made,the caps lasted over 15 years. most modern hardware just about goes past warranty.

Spent a long time going thru it tonight. I'd say 19 out of 20 WHDLoad demos or games need NOAUTOVEC to run. Not normal for Blizz 060 on A2000?
Thanks. bp |

I removed the ASDG dual serial board as suggested, and made sure my 68060.library 68040.library 68040new.library and 68040old.library were latest. Still get NMI Autovec errors on most titles I run.
What coud the issue be? |

@Blakespot
What revision of A2000 motherboard are you using? I had some similar problems with my 040@33 until I changed the motherboard to the 6.3 (was running a 5.x board) Also I noticed better compatibility when I added the extra 1MB CHIP RAM (giving me 2MB total) However, if AGA is something you want to move to - hit me up in PM I am sure I can help. |

Thanks Zetr0 -- I'll check the rev. Not sure offhand what it is.
Showconfig shows 68040. Should it show 68060? Thanks. bp |

the only idea is to remove more of the extra hardware because it is hardware related. besides that I have no idea.
I never heard that a plain Amiga behaves like that. |
