Amix Vs NetBSD what runs faster.

Hi.

What Unix OS and X11 ran faster on the standard Amiga 3000UX, Amix or NetBSD??

I'm guessing NetBSD??

Thanks guys.

With native ECS graphics, monochrom 1 bitplane mode X11R4/R5 on Amix is way faster than NetBSD and it's quite usable. NetBSD additionally supports 16 colors with 4 bitplanes, but is not really usable, you can see every pixel being drawn. :-)

Unfortunately, I don't have an Amix supported graphics card yet, so I cannot do a direct comparison.

Graphics aside, Amix feels snappier on a vanilla A3000(UX). NetBSD up to v2.0 used to be "fast" but speed degraded from version to version as more and more services and features were added. However, for anything "serious" NetBSD is the way to go. It's quite a pain in the ass to compile anything more contemporary in Amix. It will often fail because of simple things like command line tools not having expected options or make emitted command lines being "too long" :-(

Thanks Leo. It's just that I saw the video of Atari SV booting up and it looked quite snappy.
