Using serial port on GVP Combo 040 card with Amiga Explorer?

I have a GVP combo 040 card, and I was hoping to use the serial port on the card itself to get faster transfer speeds with Amiga Explorer.

Does anyone have any experience telling Amiga Explorer to use that port instead of the Amiga serial port. Any help would be greatful.

The "GVPIOControl" program included on the installation disk allows you to redirect the serial.device and parallel.device to the gvpser.device and gvppar.device, respectively. However, one should have to do this only with the parallel.device, as most properly written, modern programs allow you to select the serial device driver.
I believe you install the drivers from the G-Force 040 Combo install disk.

Then install AmigaExplorer.

Then open the AmigaExplorer launch Icon prefs in Workbench and alter the appropriate tooltype :

If that fails to connect you may have to play with the SERNUM tool type too.

Or failing that try the GVPIOControl program?

Thanks for the info that worked!

Maybe I could ask another question? What's the maximum speed that this should all go? The baud rate rather.

Time to experiment? I'd go for 115200bps to begin with, then decrease it if you get problems.
