Civilization Amiga 500 trouble loading

I recently brought an Amiga 500 and a big box of discs which I found an original version of Civilization. When I try to load the game however it only loads disc one for a few seconds before taking me to a DOS command screen where I can type something. Nothing happens following this.

Could someone help? It the disc broke or is there a code of command I need to type in. Please help I'm a complete newbie when it comes to the Amiga I haven't touched one since is was 11!

What you're describing makes me think the disk isn't bootable (it's been a long time since I last loaded that one so I'm not sure if it should be or not).

Anyway, what you need to do is boot the Amiga with your Workbench disk first, then swap the disk to the first Civilization disk, double-click it's icon and then double-click the game icon. Hopefully that should do it.
