Hybris is also heavily inspired by Dangar Ufo Robo.

I'll go for Battle Squadron.

I must go for Hybris - if only for the sheer audacity of making a game that is almost exclusively sprite based on a system which is generally regarded as having poor sprite capability

More seriously, from what I recall I preferred how Hybris played so there's why I vote for it.

Seriously? Check out what companies like Toaplan and Taito were releasing at that time. Hybris & Battle Squadron are a million miles away from being "arcade quality" shmups.

Having said that, Hybris gets my vote, purely for the music. One of the best and most well known Amiga tunes of all time.

The demo to the new Battle Squarron is on OS4Depot and it’s impressive. I downloaded it today and it runs great on the X5000. Where can I buy the full version in 2019?

I played both, and for me it is hybris all the way. The music and the diversity of the three levels are so good.

As a shmup, BS comes in second for me of all shmups. But compared against hybris, battle squadron just doesn't feel as exciting, despite more mechanics in place. Loved the endtune to bits though

Battle squadron, for me. I still love this game and think it's up there with classic like r-type - arcade/ps1, my favorite all time shmup

https://www.amedia-computer.com/fr/c...or-deluxe.html

The port is done by Daniel 'Daytona675x' Muessener who did the OS4 port of Tower-57

Man, the news items on the front page are quite grim.

OT:

I'm going with Hybris on this one, for one very stupid reason: the gun sounds are way better. Or should I say: not nearly as annoying as in Battle Squadron. But gameplay-wise these games are so close.

EDIT: Whoops, I'm a couple of days late. I WOULD have gone with Hybris

It is no longer available for iOS. I’m not sure why that is.

Did manage to finish Battle Squadron with no cheats. I like them both, Hybris grows on you the more you play it. Music was excellent for both games. I like them equally.
