So I found a few rather high quality Amiga game posters

Hi! I registered to tell you guys that I found a few old Amiga game posters from my youth in my cellar. Totally forgot about them. But then I remembered talking to a female Psygnosis representative at some early 1990s Amiga fair in Cologne and how nervous I was when I talked to her, because she was very female ; ) In the end she gave me a ton of promotional material and we married soon afterwards. That last thing was a lie. The Psygnosis promo material is rad and sometimes weird: a laminated, black cardboard that reads: "Retailer Notice! Order More Psygnosis Games Now!". Right to the point. Somewhat un-british. Well, they were in Germany at the time : )

I especially like the Psygnosis logo poster which seems to be a reprint of the original airbrush piece. This thing is laminated, it's thick, it's heavy. Love it. For reference the Amnios poster is pretty much exactly Din A2. If you have any questions, please ask. Attached are horribly shot and badly compressed photos. I seem to be limited to eight pics, so here's a list:

- Blood Money
- Amnios
- Psygnosis logo
- Second Samurai
- Air Support
- Gods (massive thing)
- F-117a (not Amiga)
- Uridium 2
- B.A.T.
- Globdule
- Silent Service
- Midwinter 2
- Zool cardboard cutout
- Promo triangular Obitus
- Promo triangular Beast 2
- Retailer Notice from Psygnosis

Now: I want to preserve them. But how? I have no idea, I don't know what's possible and what the costs are. I'm not into print, graphics, Photoshop or anything. I know nothing. Maybe you do : )

Ok, Revision PC 8k intro starts, see you guys!

Hi, nice posters

Welcome to the forum Toothbit

I don't think exist a preservation project for posters itself

But HOL have "Miscshot" for the games

http://hol.abime.net/81/miscshot

Perhaps the images can be sended to the HOL team ?

But I don't know how. Is there a store? A known service? Because I think they have to be scanned, colour-corrected and fixed by a professional.

Thanks Retro-Nerd!

They would be awesome to get full resolution scans off so we could print them out full size ourselves

If you were to do that, you'd need to contact a professional printing company, they'd be able to point you in the right direction for it

One option would be check with local photo clubs. The probably have a good scanner and colour checker chart.

Dust off the posters as much as possible, use lossless (tiff), disable all pre-processing
Scan the colour checker on a white paper to get a reference and then you can scan each poster in sections.

Anyone with basic photoshop/affinity skills can then use the colour checker to calibrate and the stitch function to merge sections

Any decent reprographics place will have a scanner capable of A0. There's a company that we use all the time in work for such things as scanning old drawings from paper or tracing paper even and it comes out perfect.

If you can get them scanned I'd love to see them shared online. My new man cave will be built soon and some of them would look really well on the wall!

Quick update: I found a company near Cologne (where I live) that might be right for the job! It's really quite expensive (around 120 Euro per poster, including touch-ups). I'll meet with them on friday. I will give them two posters to start with and keep you posted about the progress.

I need a graphic artist! :)

Today I got three scans back: the Psygnosis logo, Globdule and Gods. I paid 40 Euros per poster for the plain scans. I rejected paying the in-house graphic artist for further work, because that would be another 60 Euros per hour and (according to the owner) the Gods poster alone would take "several hours". I simply don't have that kind of money for posters. Sorry.

So now I'm looking for a graphic artist here in the forum, who's willing to do the work for free. I know, it's tedious busywork, but it would tremendously help to get these posters released. I won't release the untouched scans publicly, because I want them to be completely finished, ready to be printed.

Is there a graphic artist here, who would help me out (and who thinks that money and summertime are overrated)? Please contact me, I visit eab at least once every two days.

Okay, it's a misunderstanding: I'm already spending around 500 Euros(!) just for the scans alone (professionally scanned by a company that is specialised in art reproduction).

And 500 bucks are the absolute maximum that I will spend on this. Because I have to work pretty hard for my money, I have to feed children and I'm not in IT. If no one here wants to meet me halfway and does the photoshop work for free, then this project is over.

But recommending me a site where I can spend even more money to give this community stuff for free really got me on the wrong foot. This and Mexico leading 1:0.
