Demos and Previews on HOL

Was it considered to put on the HOL, next to the games, also demos and previews of them? Some demos and previews are far different from the game itself. They contain some rare pictures or even levels and events which didn't make it into the game. What do you think about it?

I have come up with this idea after playing one of the Stardust demos. Loading screen is unique, during the asteroid shoot out there are additional coins and shooting itself is different. Tunnel section presented in this demo is also far, far different from what made it into the game.

Hmm... No opinions on that? Maybe I will tease you a bit and provide screenshots from one of the Stardust demos. As you can probably notice these shots are not available in the game.

In the other thread on EAB people discuss about shots on the game boxes. Shots which are not from the game. Some call them bogus but what if the shots were made from demos and previews and since the design of the box must be created long before the final version of the game is completed, this might be an explanation.

For me it could be quite informative if HOL could provide some information about previews and demo versions of some games with screenshots which can be so different from what is in the game.

We sometimes do put entries for coverdisks where they are considered unique enough for a separate entry e.g. Car-Vup: The Final Frontier (http://hol.abime.net/4192/screenshot) and Rick Dangerous 2.5 (http://hol.abime.net/4954).

If the preview is quite similar to the full game and with the same name then it might be worth putting any unique screens in the existing entries and including a note about them.

That would be nice. Any way of solving this could be good.

I'd say that this is fairly low priority for us though - getting screenshots added to the games are far higher priority.

Not much point doing it for anything other than games that differ noticeably from prerelease to final release, otherwise we end up with a lot of unnecessary replication in HOL (which we've been trying to cut-down on in recent times).
